Apple with their $120B in cash couldn't higher a half decent photographer with a camera better than an iphone to take pictures of a flagship store? This is straight out of Tim Cook the beancounter's penny-pinching playbook and Jobs never would have allowed such shoddy work.

Calm.

Down.

Dumb question but those in Brisbane is there parking nearby that's affordable... please don't laugh.

Depends on your definition of affordable...
Yes, park in South Bank at the performing arts centre for $15 and walk across the bridge and up Queen Street. About a 12min walk

Perhaps 'MacRumors reader Phillip' wasn't the official Apple photographer. Just saying.

Sounds like the best option, I don't go to Brissy to often and was planing a trip to the museum anyway.

Looks great

Wow, I love it. The architecture style contradict with the modern look of Apple, yet I adore ti very much.

It is just Americans who still think this Ikea Catalogue book stuff is Modern?

Seem odd, a few decades ago, sure, but still... today?

It's about the least challenging design one could ever do.

Could all make your homes like this with zero planning if you love it so much.

Im pretty sure,

ok no,

100% sure this is just someone who got in and took pictures and uploaded it, contruction worker..employee...manager....someone walking past.

And whats up with your hostile attitude ? calm down buddy. its a freaking picture

Think I'll head in on the weekend to give it a look and get my iPhone lock button fixed at the same time. Been putting it off because I'm to lazy to drive to the other Apple stores in QLD.

no, i'm not the official photographer. ;) it'd be a nice gig tho.

I was just going to Woolies downstairs and i spotted that the blinds were gone and stuck my phone against the glass and grabbed these shots.

i'm taking my DSLR in to work tomorrow and will grab some shots when they open at 10:00 am

Won't be there Friday but I was planning a trip to 'the big city' and this is on more stop I'll be doing in a few weeks.

Most likely not unfortunately. It's pretty bad there.

Peak time parking in Brissy CBD is horrid... But if you plan to get in after 4PM, use secure-a-park for $5 parking for the night.

That's probably your best bet. If you live closer in, catching the train might be a better option. But you'd have to check up prices.

I'll probably be taking photos of it too. Wonder if they are doing the opening day shirt thing this time around.

I reckon Apple should take their own photos and have up on their website for people to see. Cause trying to get a decent photo inside on opening day will be near impossible due to the large crowds. Your phone photos might be some of the best we can get till the crowds die down a bit or more photos are taken after hours through the windows again.

Looks like a Microsoft Store to me. ;)
Please put your glasses on. I know I have to do the same.

You should do the museum of Brisbane / Modern art Gallery / etc etc all free in Brisbane while you are there to make a whole day of it.

Not always. I have never been to an Apple store. So this Brisbane one of Friday will be the first for me.

I think the Myer Apple Store within a store will die because of the new Apple store. The resellers in the area will probably die too.

----------

Quality > Quantity.

Apple Stores within a store in Myer have co-existed for years now, even at places like Chermside and Carindale. And unlike the Apple stores, resellers like Myer, JB Hifi, etc offer discounts throughout the year. You'd be stupid to buy Apple products at the Apple shops when they charge RRP and don't give out discounts.
And why would Apple cut ties with these stores when it means they can sell more of their products to more people?
The new Brisbane store will be cool, but it will also co-exist with resellers throughout the city.

It reminds me of a library. All that's missing are shelves of books.

Yep. Except in a library, folks are making efforts to keep the noise down.

With all the hard surfaces in this place, fill it with people engaged in enthusiastic conversation, and it could make it difficult for folks to separate their conversation from the others occurring in the space.

They're likely hopefully anticipating lots of foot traffic, so they chose to go with durable flooring that will be relatively easy and simple to maintain. Maybe there are historical requirements for the structure/materials. But as you've indicated there's a (necessary?) sacrifice to "warmth." They could have gone with engineered wood flooring that might contribute to warmth, and kill some of the noise reflection. But then they'd have to plan for an eventual maintenance or replacement event, I guess. Maybe a one-time larger expenditure for an install of real wood flooring, with the requisite multi-coat polyurethane would have been a reasonable compromise between cold marble/concrete, and less durable engineered flooring? Just thinkin' out loud. I dunno. No one right answer, probably.

All things considered, I think it's an attractive space.
