Why do you care what people spend their money on? The more I see whining like this the more I know it’s just bugging the crap out of some people that this might actually be a good product.

I think he was referring to customers not media reviewers.
Alot of it is people who either can't afford it/want it to fail because they didn't buy it and just post with agenda. Sad really.

There are legitimate criticisms but it seems like it really bugs people that this device has great sound. Maybe, just maybe the early adopters bought it for that knowing all the limitations.

Jonathan Morrison says it works with Spotify:

Stop whining.
Using AirPlay which means requires an iOS device.

I certainly know why I bought it which was for it's sound for my music/podcasts/reminders/controlling my lights and reminders.

I only use siri for basic tasks. I'm not expecting it to be like alexa and knows it's limits. Do I wish it was as smart as alexa? of course but would I use all those smart answers? not really.

On the MacRumors forums, upcoming HomePod owners have also listed some songs they'll be using to test out the HomePod's capabilities when it arrives, including "Hotel California" from The Eagles, "Prelude and Kiara" from Bonobo, "Hits and Exit Wounds" from Alabama 3, "Core" from Stone Temple Pilots, "Your Latest Trick" by Dire Straits, and "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
Excuse me. Why did you not link to my thread, which this is a duplicate of? It even has an Apple Music playlist!

And envious! I had wanted one back when they were first announced but my husband wanted no part of it. He filled the house with Echos.

I did worry Siri would be a hot mess but I’m happy to hear that she can hear ok on this.

Your house must be very large to be filled with echos...

I kid!

Or Mac. This is a predominately Apple site, so I assume you’re here because you have MacOS or iOS.
Regardless, there are umpteen billions of iOS devices active and that means there’s a potential market to move just as many HomePods. Even a fraction would be considered a “success.”

Reviews sound really good!

But with built in speakers and a 15-zone whole home audio setup that's been running virtually snag-free for ten years, I'm not buying. The thought of having more electronic clutter on countertops isn't appealing. At least the design is cool.

Whatever you do macrumors.....make sure you only post positive reviews....it’ll make all those who overpaid for a limited speaker feel better about themeselves.
When you think about it, this is a high-end speaker featuring a smart assistant that hasn't been touched in 7 years. Now that's what I call half baked.
Wow. You know a product is good when the negative insecure comments are this lame.

Hmmm idk. I think I would rather read reviews and opinions from people who haven’t listened to it nor have even seen 1 in person. There’s something about those posts that are sooo helpful.

Yeah? OK. I've not see one or listened to it but let me tell you it is AMAZING! Never has a speaker sounded so good.
Helpful? :)

For me, I wish it natively supported Spotify

I will presume this will be like the Apple TV - where it was pretty bare bones and "apple ecosystem centric" only to open up later

For now, looks like some incredible tech but not quite there yet feature wise

Here are my positives:
  • Distortion free
  • It does sound good all round the room
  • Bass is just right
  • Siri can control airplay feeds including Spotify (pause, skip etc - and what is this song etc)
  • Siri VERY responsive and recognises voice well
  • Great volume
My negatives:
  • I don't hear the "Soundstage" as being that fantastic - and there is no Left/Right separation reproduced
  • Expected more in the higher freq range
  • No EQ presets to choose from - which would have been easy to implement

Will try in another room, and listen to a friends of mine to compare in case there is something wrong with mine - the reviews implied there was plenty of higher freq. This is playing both Apple Music and Spotify music streams.

EDIT
Playing different music genres seems to make a big difference to my satisfaction of the speaker - Jazz was disappointing, Humble by KL and Hotel California sound much better...

I see iHome iPhone/iPod dock -- old school 30 pin connector -- in Goodwill, ValueVillage, Salvation Army thrift stores. While iHome is just a 3rd manufacturer of Apple devices, they age terribly. Even those from 2011 (there's a date sticker). They look dusty & scuffed up. Obviously, Apple makes high quality products, but either white or black, these things will be a dust magnet in weeks & if you don't keep up w/ maintenance, you'll be hiding it behind a fern sooner rather than later. lol

Yes, I suppose she (Juli) could be.
