indeed, I'm an HQ employee and we cant buy iphones (from anywhere) until demand dies down to ensure our customers come first, probably wont have my own til next year 🙁
That sucks. I used to work for AT&T and Apple and both times I was allowed to pre order like anyone else. Just couldn't buy from in store stock.

Employees can’t buy any. From what I’ve been told.

Wrong.

I am friends with a district manager. I had asked his these questions when the 6+ came out and he said. They hold back stock for their important clients, important business, and themselves. In his stores employees can only hold 1 unit for themselves and they must purchase it for their own use. When the 7 came out one of his stores held back 5 units for a customer who was coming in and activating them all in a new plan.

VZN stores don't make any money selling the phone outright. They make more money if they sell it to a customer as this helps them meet their metrics and commission schedule. If its a new customer then its extra special for their rankings as new activation are where its at.

Went to AT&T this morning. Employee said no AT&T stores in the entire state of Connecticut have a even a single iPhone X in stock.

I arrived at the local Verizon store an hour from me in a small town on the NY/CT border at 6:15am for an 8am open. This is what it looked like. Haha. They had plenty.
