First iOS 8 Banner Appears at Moscone Ahead of WWDC

I'd say that banner in the hall hangs upside down…

When I was at the sea last time the rain came from above and the sea water, waves and tides were at the bottom. Most of the time at least…

That's not rain..those are rays of sunlight under the water. Having spent a lot of time in the ocean, looks perfectly normal to me..

I thought that at first as well, but I'm kinda leaning towards Lucida Grande. It's one or the other. They use both Myriad and Lucida Grande on apple.com. Either way, thank you Apple for ditching Helvetica Neue!

It's definitely not Lucida Grande, and I'm thinking you'll see a lot more Neue Helvetica in OS X Yosemite.

So if this guy is so well connected to Apple and Apple shares information with him then how come Apple haven't reserved a place for him? Also why would they share information with him and not the big players who if money was the motivating factor behind would probably be able to offer more than 9-5Mac?

The reason is because this guy isn't connected, yes he's predicted a lot of thing right but thats because he has carefully observed every rumour and made an educated guess upon whats going to happen.

Also assuming he was connected then what makes you think Apple aren't double bluffing him? If Apple told him that the WWDC would show the iPhone 6 they know he would blab about it, but if they wanted to make it a 'One more thing' then telling him there isn't going to be an iPhone 6 at WWDC would mean he would tell everyone that there wasn't and when there is one shown everyone is surprised.

Lets put it this way, if him and everyone else who claim to be in the know from Apple actually were then they would have made millions off stocks.

I can tell you're highly intelligent chap so I'm sure you already know that about 90% of all the Apple leaks and featured stories about iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 as well as others about employee shuffling etc... this year that those 'big players' (WSJ, NYT, The Verge etc...) have posted were re-posted from a story that Mark Gurman originally posted. So let me ask you, since you already know that (being that you are obviously highly intelligent) how do you reconcile what you just commented with that information that you already knew? Especially since he isn't 'carefully observing rumors and making guesses based on them' as you put it but he broke 90% of those rumors himself.

The very fact that they are rumours says a lot, he's started 90% of them by your account. Non of them have been confirmed, some will on Monday, some will show that they were just that, rumours, the same will apply later on it to the year.

Also you have to remember that he isn't getting his rumours from Apple, he will be buying them off people who have taken pictures of the production line, and those who claim to work for Apple. Even the ones from those who claim to work for Apple could be manipulating him to spread something to keep him and others off the scent.

Lastly just looking through his tweets and other blogs it's easy to see that he wasn't actually first to many of the rumours, he was just the first more well known name to republish them. In the last few weeks and months the French site ( with links to Asian sites) has provided moat of the rumours, images etc of the iPhone 6.

Gurman rarely reports hardware leaks. All of his rumors are either around software, services, employees leaving, interesting new hires, etc.

I love the look and I can't just wait for the iOS 8 software and the banner is cool and I like the colour. I am a big fan of apple because the phone that they do which is different is amazing because I wonder how they do it.

...depicting a simple "8" on what appears to be a watery background.
...

IMHO looks like an "underwater" picture.

What does this mean, umm effects? waterproof iPhone 6?

Simply means we are turning the mobile industry upside down with iOS 8. Expect something new with iOS 8 which will have a ground breaking change in the way we use our mobile. That's my 2cents.

Looking forward to tomorrow, and I hope that the rumours of Apple rushing iOS8 are wrong, I want this OS to be more stable than iOS 7!!

......so you think there is gonna be something 'groundbreaking' purely on the fact that there is water in the iOS 8 banner???

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say - there will be NOTHING groundbreaking in iOS 8!! iOS 7 wasn't groundbreaking and neither will iOS 8 be!

One observation: How we will use healthbook without the iwatch? I mean if the rumors are right and the healthbook app is part of ios 8 we will still need the hardware to import any data into the app. My guess? iWatch tomarow or no healthbook app at all.

Or it will use the M7 chip thats already in the iPhone 5S and will probably be in the iPhone 6. It may even be useable with other third party devices such as Nike fuleband or a fitbit.

I think it's going to allow other devices such as fitbit to be integrated.

I think iOS 8 will be more like iOS 5->6. There will be API changes, and maybe some new apps and some bug fixes. They will pull out Healthbook as revolutionary, and having iHome where 3rd party developers create accessories to automate your home, and that is what will be the big ticket for iOS 8. I hope I'm wrong, but Apple makes things that should be x.x updates into x updates.

M7 is just a standalone chip that control the sensors but does not have any additional sensors. And nike fuelband was discontinued while fibit is direct competition for the upcoming iwatch so I still cant see the point. Apple wont have any control over the accuracy of the data sent by these fitness bands so healthbook would be compromised from its begining. My guess is that we are going to see at least some mention of the iwatch, maybe a video or something just like the Mac Pro.

That's a good point, I currently use an app called Steps+ to count daily steps, if Apple were to do it they could probably integrate it better. Nike suddenly discontinuing their FuleBand I found interesting, considering it was decent product. I hope your guess is right, I would love to see the iWatch announced, but would they not announce it in September with the iPhone 6?

Given OS X has names, why not name the iOS . Or just drop the names from OS X .

No, ever been to the part of Europe which isn't called UK?

Ever been to northern UK?

Europeans are far easier to understand ;) just saying .

What does everyone reckon? Is Apple going to be as predicate as everyone thinks? Healthbook separate iTunes Radio app etc??

If they got timing right the iWatch could be launched nicely and be a really nice Father's Day present.
