Would be great if the mini sells a lot! So next year there’ll be iphone mini with pro design. Brushed stainless steel band preferred so it won’t be such a fingerprint magnet.

That will make it heavier, and the 135g weight of the Mini is one of the best features.

you’re right. Well at least make the back of the glass frosted. I don’t like using case, especially a phone this size that I could easily handle.

Ugh...torn between wanting the Max for the camera improvements and the Mini for having a normal sized phone again.
This is exactly my dilemma, but it's Pro vs. Mini for me. I'll never go for a plus-sized phone.

Despite having large hands, I can't stand the big phones for the pocketability factor. It's not like I'm wearing skinny jeans or anything, but my phone lives in my front left pocket. It's like wearing my watch on my left wrist. It's a muscle memory thing. Big phones and front pockets just aren't a good match.

(I'm amazed by the number of people I see carrying their phones around in their back pockets... and then I see the cracked screens when they pull them out.)

I still use the OG iPhone SE, and love it. It's perfect. But I've also denied myself the joy and versatility of a good camera for years. I've been thinking about maybe getting a DSLR. But now I'm thinking of getting the 12 Pro. The price difference is less than an entry-level DSLR, and it looks like the size is still quite pocketable. I'll have to wait to see them in person.

I'm in the same boat, rocking the 2016 iPhone SE. On a little hike with a friend last weekend, the friend's iPhone XR just blew my SE out of the water, mostly in dynamic range, colors and the selfie camera. I ended up re-doing the good angles with her phone.
I did bring a Canon EOS 650D (called T3i in US market) with the 50mm lens and while the bokeh and sharpness is fantastic, the dynamic range is nowhere near what the iPhone XR could deliver without even fiddling with it.

I played with the iPhone 12 in the store (just a tiny bit too large) and the 12 pro (better balanced but heavy). Took 2x zoom pics of an employee with both and compared the results (i.e. just digital zoom on the regular iPhone). Honestly the difference in quality is there but not nearly as much as I thought. The ultra-wide is garbage on both but sometimes, the panorama function isn't an option and that ultra-wide angle is just what you need. You can always zoom in by cropping but you can't zoom out.

I think you'll be super happy with the 12 mini. Another advantage of the small screen is that it takes less energy to keep it running using a powerbank, so just get a small one. I have this very flat 5000 mAh one that's just as wide, slightly less tall and just as thick as the case I already have for the iPhone 12 mini. Should get me through 2 days easily.

Are you sure you’re not wearing skinny jeans? I keep my phone in my front pocket (albeit front right instead of left) and never had an issue with the plus sized phones. Now with the 12 pro being even smaller than my 7 plus, I can barely tell it’s in my pocket at all.

I have a feeling we'll see a mini Pro next year. Not sure if it will have the same capabilities as the max, but should have some of the pro's capabilities.

Its pretty much there already though isn't it? One of the over-riding impressions of the whole 12 lineup is that there's very little difference between any of the models, other than the physical size and some of the advanced camera & video features.

I think that's why the Mini might be very popular because its the first time (in a long time) you can get a small form-factor iPhone without any real compromise compared to the larger ones.

If you're a goof who sits on your phone ALL DAY with MAX BRIGHTNESS on then yes, you may have a battery issue.

If you wireless charge this bad boy, you'll degrade this sucker like crazy.

If you're a normal human and see it gets 1 more hour than the XS, you're gonna be riding smooth.

You'll lose screen size where it's most important: on the width.
The 7 Plus is about the same width as the 6.5" model.
This. I upgraded an 8 Plus to the 11, thinking “wow I’m going from a 5.5” to a 6.1” display!” But when it arrived, I was surprised how the form factor made the screen seem barely the same “size” as the 8 Plus. I’m used to it now, but it has been 6 months since the change...

It lighter, smaller and even has higher DPI than normal iPhone 12. If I was in the market for a new phone, I'd have picked this one. Its somehow sad that my iPhone 8 (work) and iPhone 7S (personal) are still rock solid. Hopefully, Apple will continue providing us each year a Mini version of their new iPhone. I will probably go shopping for iPhone 14 Mini.
That’s what makes it so hard for me to upgrade, my 6s is still performing perfectly. Battery health 84% it’s hard to let it go. I would like another hour of battery life and a larger 5.4” screen in a slightly smaller form factor than even my 6s and less weight these are all pluses.

The perfect size iPhone.. for a 3 year old, maybe.

Its pretty close. We'll be switching my better half from an OG iPhone SE to a 12 mini this year. I may switch from XS to mini Pro next year if one is released.
