I'm all about people being able to camp out for new stuff, etc, but here's why this situation especially bothers me:

Justin's not employed, and not in school, yet somehow, he is able to afford to camp out and goof off for a whole week just to be the first in his town to purchase the iphone 4. How does an unemployed person afford the phone, plus the monthly fee that comes with it?

My guess is he's on unemployment or disability. Justin if I'm wrong and you're not on receiving some kind of gov't assistance, you can ignore the rest of this message.

Moving forward, I know plenty of people with seizure disorders that hold jobs and are productive in society, and for you to be able to camp in the Texas heat for a full week seems to show that you are capable of working. If you are on gov't assistance, shame on you for using our tax dollars so you can have a week long vacation to buy a high end phone.

Like I said, if you're not on gov't assistance, never mind. Either way, camp safely.

in after shtstorm.

Thanks for the update Justin!

My guess - you saw the new phones coming into the store (black, of course!).

Probably just a shipment of MBP's, iMacs and other products to restock the store. Last year iPhone shipments started arriving at stores like 2 days before and AT&T like the night before.

Yeah, thanks for the update. Not sure what the boxes are but it sounds PROMISING! :D

Keep having fun!

so i called a few radio shacks, and i can't even get a consistent answer, one said yes they wil have them on first come first serve basis.. another says it's not guarenteed they'll have em and doesn't know when they'll open.. another said they will def have em for walk-in's and open at midnight (!!) and another says they will only have pre-ordered phones _ONLY_ (and she also said that all radio shacks and AT&T stores will be this way).. geez radio shack is worse than AT&T :-\

off to plea with at&t store managers..

k first off if he is unemployed in Tx then his previous employer (which means that he had a JOB) is the one paying for his unemployment.

Second disability is a long and arduous process. One cannot waltz in with a stomach ache and start getting a check every month. The definitions of disability by SS are very well defined and defined as a 'disability' for a very good reason, even if you don't recognize it as such.

I have known someone for over 10 years. This person is in high school and has a very mild form of autism. His Dr said he will qualify for disability no problem. He has held a job for over a year while maintaining passing grades in school, and we've already written him a pass for free income for life. It takes more than a stomach ache, but not as much as it should.

Anyway, happy camping/sharing of opinions.

Sorry I haven't been responding back and fore to the form that much today. Still been dealing with press coverage from several crews and individuals. I will try my best to keep everyone updated when possible.

One of the guys from this form was kind enough to get someone of you to fund a bucket of food and drinks for me while waiting in line and deliver it to me. Thanks to those for being so generous!

If you haven't noticed, I have gone completely from a general person camping in line to someone famous internationally. Here are some of the crews that have came to take pics, film and interview so far in the past 2 days.

LOCAL:
Channel FOX 4, WFAA 8, NBC 5, CBS 11, KDAF 33, The Dallas Morning News (3 times - quick article, main article, video news)

NATIONAL
The Huffington Post

INTERNATIONAL
Unknown sources in Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and others worldwide

OTHER:
MacRumors, Engadget and other individuals.

Also today when I was getting ready for a interview in the restroom in the back of the store, a mysterious large amount of cargo was delivered today. It contains a bunch of same size of packed brown boxes that are unmarked and wrapped sealed with packing plastic wrap. The cargo was huge and about 7ft tall and 6 ft wide. Could this already be the new iPhones been delivered, or is it a restock of current products on the shelve? I do not have the answer at this time.

hey there Justin, great update, thanks for making the effort in keeping everyone updated (for those who are interested) :D, guess you make a good spy too , those could be the new iPhones :p, hope the media isn't too much of a hassle for what was supposed to be a simple camping trip :p

hope your enjoying yourself :D

To lazy to read most the posts...

BUT I'D LIKE TO SAY GOOD LUCK JUSTIN!

I see nothing wrong with what he's doing... I could do it if I wanted. I work in a job that gives me PTO, I get a full day off every 2 weeks, and can save them up for vacations etc... I could easily take a week off and camp out, AND GET PAID while I was doing it.

It's not that hard... if he has no job or whatever, even easier.

Anyways, GOOD LUCK BUD!

His dr's opinion has nothing to do with whether ssa will approve him. Just some facts- 70% of people nationally are denied at the initial level for ssd/ssi. Does that sound like we're just approving everyone left and right? Additionally, CDR (continuing disability reviews) are performed every 3-5 years for people receiving benefits. You have to give them updated medical information, fill out a new set of adl forms, etc. So someone wouldn't have a "free pass for life"

Edit: I apologize for going off topic. I'm passionate about my job. I will bow out of this now :)

Glad to hear you're still hangin' in there, Justin! It's also beyond awesome how many local MR people are stopping by to make sure you're OK, bring food, etc. (BTW, I loved the sign on the bucket. That was beautiful. :) )

Best of luck!

When will most people join Justin?

When do you think that "normal" line will start? 24 hours ahead? 12 hours ahead?

Or will there be a significant line early now that Justin has started something?

Mr. Jobs has been notified via e-mail about this super dedicated apple fan...i doubt he will respond to my e-mail but if he does I will post it here.

You guys all laugh at him now, but you'll all be bleeding from the eyes 'cause you're all out of tears when you can't get your mitts on an iPhone 4 at 7:01am Thursday. :apple:

Probably during the evening hours on the 23rd you should see a nice line forming.

My friend and I are debating about what time we need to go get in line. Our initial plan was to check the store after dinner on the 23rd (it's near his house) and then again at midnight to see if there was a line forming. If so, we'd get our supplies and begin our long night. I waited 8 hours for the iPhone original, from 10am to 6pm, but most didn't start showing up till around 4 to get in line. I wonder if the bulk will show up between 4-5am, or the night before?

I suppose we'll wait and see.

Just to clarify, I know there are other "line" threads, I am talking SPECIFICALLY the line for the store Justin is at.

I don't live in texas, but just curious is all.

there aren't many people who are not in school or have no job yet are able to afford an iphone so my guess is the 23rd
