Logicboard and battery are in the same place as the 4 and 4S not much has changed on the side the battery and logicboard are placed just someone so exited they forgot they were opening up from the front now instead of the rear.

Look forward to the iPhone 5S, it's HDR Video.

Also what is with Samsung Galaxy SIII, touch another phone to transfer a photo.
Prefer iOS 6 method of take a photo stream makes RFID based technology look so outdated or is that just me.
I much prefer iPhone 5 as I can hold it in one hand and use.

I was wondering about 3rd party battery replacement kits for the iPhone5. It was relatively simple for the 4 and 4s. Is this stuff glued together making it impossible for the consumer to replace the battery in the future?

It's funny that we are so eager to tear apart the iP5, cuz we've been staring at dissembled iPhones all summer long. haha

First tear-down was from Apple

Apple provided beautiful tear-down shots during the iPhone 5 presentation.

Sorry guys, but you've been sherlocked.

These breakdown articles are pointless considering all the leaks we saw early on before the announcement. Every day there was a new picture of an iPhone 5 leaked part.

Looks like it's going to be much easier to swap out a broken display.

No offense, but I'd rather have a fused together LCD and glass to prevent pesky dust under the glass ruining my day. Besides, I never ever repaired any of my phones nor have i dropped them that serious that the LCD broke.

I'm always really impressed by how tightly packed these devices are. There's hardly a spare micron in there!

Sometimes I like to just take a moment to appreciate how far we've come with these gadgets. This device that, tomorrow, will be in the hands of millions of people, is a wonder if engineering that would have been virtually impossible to build twelve months ago, perhaps even six months ago.

Today we routinely carry around, in our pockets, astonishing computing power, the likes of which would have seemed like alien technology even ten years ago!

So for months we watch these individual parts leak and then slowly be assembled into a final launch product...

Yay..

Then we tear it all apart so we can see each of the individual components that we have all seen weeks ago

Doh....

That doesn't have anything to do with the other poster. With the iPhone 5, it is easy to remove the entire display for replacement. LCD and glass are still fused together, so you must replace the entire assembly.

The same was true for the 4 and 4S, except that it was the back cover that came off first, and then you had to methodically remove all the components that are attached to the backside of the LCD screen.

So the LCD is the 'lid', instead of the rear. It does make replacing the rear a pain, but of course now it's mostly aluminum and less prone to damage. Plus you can always use a case that covers the rear if it was significantly damaged, and just carry on.

If the battery and logic board switched sides, then how could the SIM tray be on the same side as it is the 4 and 4S? Nothing "switched sides". It's a matter of upside down access (4 & 4S) and right side up access (5).

Yes. Is it Slivka that keeps saying this? It's as if his mind simply slops out onto a keyboard whatever mess happens to be sloshing around in his hollow head.

This is good news! My friends are always dropping their iPhones and asking me to fix them! Now it'll be a quick job to replace the screen!

Although changing the back now looks more hard as it seems it is part of the frame! The back is the best place for custom designs!

Argument fail

Oh I see...ahem ;)

Are they using the same screws they used on the 4/4S? It'd be nice to not have to buy yet ANOTHER toolkit for opening my phone...
