Yeah but most of the time my phone is unlocked before I ever look at it with Touch ID so this comparison isn't really a good functional test. Besides that I won't be able to unlock the phone while wearing sunglasses unless I use a passcode so that is also really inconvenient. There are just a few things about this that are going to make the phone more difficult to use. I'm not gonna hate on it too much until I get some time with it but I can already see some things that are going to make face ID annoying to use everyday.

The guy from cnet said it worked shades on.

It can't read your eyes through shaded lenses. I hope he's right and I'm wrong but if it won't unlock without your eyes open I highly doubt it's going to work with polarized sunglasses.

Yes it can. It's an infrared scan and can see through sunglasses. This has not only been confirmed by Apple, but demonstrated by reviewers.

There seems to be more inconvenience because Face ID will only let you scan one face. Unlike with Touch ID, you can scan multiple fingers.

Watch JMo scan Captain America and then he can't unlock it anymore unmasked.

Mr. Mobile doesn't seem to enjoy it as time goes on and Fisher has been using Facial Recognition since 2015.

Ah, screw it! I'll pick it up this Friday. My last iPhone for the rest of the decade. In two years, I'm going to get a Pixel 4 XL. It's not like I buy iPhones every year. Probably won't get another until 2021-2022.

2017 - iPhone X
2019 - Pixel 4 or 4 XL

I want to get a Sony Xperia at some point. Toss in maybe a Samsung Galaxy X if foldable displays are practical. I try to diversify my phones every year or so.
