Huh. I haven't imported photos from my iPhone since iCloud Photos came along.

Is Image Capture still in existence in Big Sur? It's quite a great little utility for this kind of thing.

Yes it exists and Image Capture works wonderfully well for that purpose but between Image Capture and WiFi Photo, it's a 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other proposition. I don't use iCloud Photos for this purpose as I take way too many crap photos and I'm really selective about what goes in my library. At other times, I import into Lightroom and that is also working at the moment. I do use iCloud to share with family.

I take a ton of crap photos too. For my workflow, I like to use iCloud photos and do my culling on my phone or Mac, whichever is handiest. Also I am paying for the 2TB plan and I’m hell bent on using as much of it as possible :)

I can't blame you for that at all! I suppose it might be easier to delete a ton of crap in Photos rather than on the Phone but I'm pretty good at keeping it to a dull roar on a weekly basis on the phone itself. I'd bet the minute I turned on iCloud for that purpose I'd get mighty lazy about the whole thing...

Working/not working apps from elsewhere on the Forum:

Well done Apple. There are some good changes like being able to hide the Spotlight icon easily.
