i dont even know how to pronounce that o_O (Yosemite) like jose in jose...ph? and mite as in dyna...mite?

Yo-sem-i-tee

It's actually a pretty famous national park....kinda baffled by all the butt-hurtness here over Apple using local landmarks in their naming.

Didn't they use all of them? I liked sea lion though.

Could've used Serval, Lynx, Ocelot, Caracal, Bobcat etc but I suppose technically they are small cats.

I preferred the more international and inclusive big cat names as they were more easily understood and people could relate with them a bit more. I don't dislike the new Californian names, though I agree with a poster above that celestial names would've been cool!

Seriously how many more revisions are we going to get of OS X. Isn't it time to move up to verison 11?

No, no no and no. Why would they reinvent the wheel? OS X is awesome! They won't be moving to OS XI until they come out with a ground up totally new OS

I don't see any evidence of that, I'm not hearing calls for that, I don't see any interest in that at this time from Cupertino.

If the next one is OS Z, they'll be able to go over version 9000.

In related news, Apple sues the US Forest Service for using its operating system name for a park.

I might be in the minority but I preferred cat names to be honest.

Big cat names were fine, but they were getting a bit out dated. Besides, they ran out of names. :D

I think having iconic places in California is good because Apple has it's roots here.

To each his/her own though.

I agree. Even as a European, of course I know about Yosemite. :)
I can't say I connected the same way with Mavericks.

Edit: I found a pretty 2880x1800 (Retina 15") wallpaper on this theme. :)

A visual overhaul of OSX is really long overdue and will be amazing hopefully but along with the visual overview they need to add new features as well.

Actually had to look up some video for the correct pronunciation of Yosemite. Quite surprising that it's Yo-sem-i-tee, seems so unintuitive. That will be tough for other non-native speakers.
