Great, now I'm going to forever associate OS 10.10 with…

Why do so many people dislike Scott Forstall? He seemed so nice and fun when he demonstrated at the keynotes.

I don't think that a lot of people really dislike him, he's just used as a scapegoat for jokes about skeuomorphism, and he has a funny face.

Had a feeling it would be Yosemite. A good name for a UI overhaul release.

Me too, but they were running out...I would have preferred them moving on to celestial objects. "OS X Orion" has a nice ring to it.
I read "OS X Onion has a nice ring to it" and laughed thinking it was a pretty smart pun. Then I read it again :(

If this even looks remotely like iOS7.. I will just give up.

This flat/pastel/neon phase can end at any time.

Anyone find it odd that they made no attempt to keep these banners hidden? Why would they suddenly decide to stop doing that?

I'm looking forward to a potential UI "flattening".

If you look at iOS 6 vs iOS 7, the former just looks ancient in comparison.

We shouldn't be afraid of UI change (except for Metro - eugh :p )

Seriously how many more revisions are we going to get of OS X. Isn't it time to move up to verison 11?

There's no reason why there should be a limit.

When they move from a Unix foundation, OS 11 might follow.

Maybe not.

Excited

I just hope the great an powerful ives dident have to hevy a hand with the UI design. In my line of work i see a lot of people introdouced to iOS and Mac OS for the first time and since iOS7 people have had such a hard time learning the UI its so much less intuitive then before the new symbols make less sence as well as other things in the OS i just hope this dosent happen to OS X its nit a good way to keep new non pro users that are looking for the ease of use that apple is/was so good at.

Dont get me wrong i love my apple stuff Just Sayin

Pssh. Tomato, tomahto.

No, it's not. There's only one way to pronounce it. You pronounce it any other way then it's the wrong name, period.

I've seen many people here talk crap about him. Saying they were happy Apple got rid of him and frankly I can't even understand why.

If there was going to be a Yosemite-theme, I would prefer Half Dome -- tip of the hat to Sierra On-Line.

We wouldn't want M$ or Sammy calling it OS Half-way or any other Half-XXX, would we?

You're a month early / off.

I'm not a fan of those landmark names either. It's too California-centric, too USA-centric. And some of these names could be hard to pronounce correctly if you don't speak english. Hopefully they'll stay with single-word names.

But Apple IS California-USA. If you don't want to bother to learn how to pronounce a proper name correctly, then don't be critical when english-speaking persons cannot pronounce Arabic-etc. names.

Mavericks is 3 syllables, by the way. Most names have been 2 syllables minimum.

I think OS XI (11) would be better. We've gone through 10 versions of Mac OSX. Now we should go through 10 versions of OS XI. Makes sense to me.

I really dislike OS X Yosemite.

It just automatically makes me think of looney tunes cartoons and childlike things. Not a good OS X name in my opinion.

Space names would be much cooler. OS X Andromeda.
