Big fan of Sorkin and Boyle. We seriously can't judge this movie based on a couple of leaked photos. Everyone in the theater laughed at the first teaser trailer of the social network, assuming it would suck. Clearly none of them realized it was Fincher's work at the time. This is a similar situation, and these are good filmmakers.

i know dead on resemeblance isnt everything in a movie like this but to me he looks far too much like bill nye.

i knew it, so i said.

this guy has an emotional spectrum of 2 (open mouth, closed mouth)

Why does he have to look like Steve Jobs? This is why they're actors. They're are here to visually tell us a story, and sure sometimes they end up sharing similar facial features, but the performance is what matters more than anything.

He needs to look like Steve Jobs because the movie is about Steve Jobs. Just look at pirates of Silicon Valley. Their very convincing including the person that played Bill Gates.
Same reason why the producers of fast and furious 7 used Paul Walkers brother to finish off the movie. If you make a movie about a person that died at least respect them by getting someone that looks the part.

This might be more fitting:

Heck no! Was that a joke?

I thought to myself "Man that guy doesn't look like Jobs", smiled and couldn't wait to see the nerd rage in the forum.....was not disappointed.

I disagree. I think on some level there are certain similarities.

What I see is that its the hairstyle that makes him too different from Jobs. Other than, he may look as Jobs. What I don't understand is why he is blonde (not like real Jobs).

Nope.

I don't buy it. Not one bit. Rogen looks a better Woz than Fassbender does Jobs, and I ****ing LOVE Fassbender.

Say what you will about Kutcher's Jobs movie, but that guy at least looked halfway like Steve.

Because looking like Steve is way more important than being able to act.

what did s.Rogen say?

(and i don't mean what did fox news tell you to think.. i mean, what did he actually say? you got a quote?)

Ugh God no I hate Fox News, or as I enjoy to call it more, "Faux News." Attached is the quote in question; a tweet by Rogen. Quentin Tarantino's 2009 revenge fantasy film shows clips from a fake propaganda movie about a skilled Nazi sniper.

This film will almost certainly suck.

BUT I really, really want to be proved wrong. I hope it's some dizzying metaphysical headtrip of tech or something.

Naw..it will not be. Just another movie that has a real possiblilty of sucking badly.

----------

I won't see it because of Rogen. His comments about Chris Kyle and U. S. Soldiers in general were disgusting and heinous. I refuse to give him any money from my pocket for as long as I live. It's a shame too because I found him quite entertaining and was looking forward to this movie.

I will not see it because it will probably suck.

But the opinion of Seth Rogen about the sniper movie isn't offensive. It is like a propoganda film in some aspects. However, it is also about PTSD and how it impacts people too.

how are you getting this:
you-- "His comments about Chris Kyle and U. S. Soldiers in general were disgusting and heinous. "

from this:
rogen-- "American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that's showing in the third act of Inglorious Basterds."

 ??

American Sniper is the most unsubtle bit of american jingoism made in a while; very disappointing coming from Eastwood. A total sellout to the spirit of films like Unforgiven.

The sniper who wrote the book is as far from being a hero as possible. He's on par with drone operators would bomb from 10000 miles away as "hero" go.

A Hero would be one guy, saving a another human who is under fire from of a sniper. That takes a lot of courage.

It looks to me like this can work from a casting standpoint. Solid acting can make up for a lot of when it comes to physical dissimilarity.

I have to agree.

Examples:

Pirates of Silicone Valley
- Jobs, Woz, and even Gates played by Anthony Michael Hall were all brilliant even though only 1 actor even looked similar. Common a Blond/Red-Haired Gates?! But Michael Hall (from Weird Science, 16 Candles, etc) pulled it off incredibly.

CGI
Tron Legacy - Sam's Dad on the GRID as CLUE and in the first few scenes as his Dad.

Fasbender is too laid back to pull of Jobs. He hasn't got that intensity that seems about to explode at any moment.

That's a rather odd statement considering his last big performance was of Edwin Epps in 12 Years a Slave.

I agree he looks more like John Sculley than Steve Jobs. Lol

Why on earth does an actor have to LOOK like their biographical counterpart?
Good acting extends further than the surface.

Yeah the looks thing is a non issue in a movie like this. They could hire a doppelgänger but that won't make the movie better or worse.

Most people don't have posters of jobs over their bed so it will make little difference. They movie will be make or break because of script, directing and acting not physical resemblance.

Wow, I thought the background information on Inglorious Basterds I provided would avoid this, but I guess I'll just say the same thing again and hope it gets drilled in somehow. Rogen was comparing the entire movie of American Sniper to the propaganda commonly used by Nazi Germany to convince German citizens that they actually WEREN'T mass murdering Jews and in reality everything was fine. Hell of a comparison to a movie depicting U. S. military service.

That last part made me laugh because Chris Kyle actually DID JUST THAT. Countless Marines, SEALs, and Iraqi civillians owe their lives to him. Members of each aforementioned category have publicly said this. And about those drone operators, if there is a way to eliminate the enemy without putting soldiers at risk, why the hell would the U. S. and her allies NOT take advantage of it? The same goes for any other long-range air attack. They're the reason why ISIS hasn't committed 9/11 Part 2 yet.

This is as far this is going to go, as it is getting too political. If you want to continue, start a PRSI thread on the issue if you're a high enough ranking member.
