No, No, No.... This is all wrong...... A young steve jobs..... I can't even understand that.

Nope.

I don't buy it. Not one bit. Rogen looks a better Woz than Fassbender does Jobs, and I ****ing LOVE Fassbender.

Say what you will about Kutcher's Jobs movie, but that guy at least looked halfway like Steve.

Why does he have to look like Steve Jobs? This is why they're actors. They're are here to visually tell us a story, and sure sometimes they end up sharing similar facial features, but the performance is what matters more than anything.

if you're over the age of 6, you probably know EXACTLY what steve jobs looks like. these comparisons to actors who didn't look like [x] subject (from decades and decades ago) are entirely missing the point.

chris looks nothing like luke skywalker.. still worked out ok.

It's almost as if those who are saying this is going to suck don't know anything about who is actually involved in this film. The script is written by Aaron Sorkin, a really strong and fantastic writer. Some of the leaked emails from Sony executives were really praising the script, which is one of the stronger indicators as to whether a film will be great or crap. Strong writing is extremely important, and this film seems to have that. Fassbender and Rogen are also very very good actors. I see some on here for some reason demeaning Rogen's work.. The guy had made some great films, and was strong in them.. I'm looking at movies like 50/50, Superbad, 40 year old virgin, this is the end. Really great stuff, especially 50/50, which was more of a dramatic/comedic role for him. So not sure where the hate is coming from. Hasn't Danny Boyle also won an Academy Award for Slumdog Millionaire? Although, I would agree I do love Fincher, Boyle is no slouch.

Anyways, this film I think has real potential. Anyone who says otherwise must not be familiar with anything I just said above.

...
The movie will consist of three continuous scenes covering three product launches:
...

What are you saying? Are you talking a Long Take? Are you using "scene" to mean "shot" (which is editing convention)? Or is it a sequence of shots that make up each product launch scene?

The context makes it seem as though it will be long takes (uninterrupted shots), since all scenes are, by definition, in "continuous" time. I understand that the movie is supposed to be in "real time" (from what I've heard), but that doesn't mean continuous single shots.

...There isn't even a passing resemblance... Fassbender looks like the captain of the yacht club.

Fasbender is too laid back to pull of Jobs. He hasn't got that intensity that seems about to explode at any moment.

I completely agree. I'm also not convinced that Seth Rogen has the ability to play anybody other than himself.

Three images leaked, and so far Macrumors society has determined:

A. Movie sucks
B. Casting is completely wrong
C. No one cares about this movie

Amazing how the internet is better at casting/directing Hollywood movies than those in the position to do so. Goooooooooo team!

now now lets not be silly, these conclusions were made way before they even started shooting lol just like how the next iPhone was gonna fail 10 months before the release.

Why on earth does an actor have to LOOK like their biographical counterpart?
Good acting extends further than the surface.

Sorry my friend, this is the new macrumors where surface look means more than actual acting skills. I now use it to read stupid comments for fun instead of intelligent discussions.

Here's the thing....why does he need to LOOK like Jobs? Who cares, so long as he PLAYS the role incredibly well? LOOKING like Jobs is superficial and gets you about as far as Ashton Kutcher. How well he can ACT like Jobs is more important. Get over appearances.

Fassbender and Rogan are quite the accomplished actors but I don't see a Steve Jobs on set at all. Bale could've pulled this off better.

Due to his method acting, Bale didn't think he could become a vegan and fluctuate his weight so drastically between the nimble young Jobs (c. 1984) and fat middle aged jobs (c. 2001) in the space of the shooting window :p

Couldn't they have dyed Fassbender's hair black/dark brown and straighten Rogen's hair. At least do the simple things to help the illusion.

Commodore Steve Jobs

I totally disagree, these are biopics done within a time people would remember the original (or they'd be still alive).

- Glen Miller story done with James Stewart!! Glen Miller had died 10 years earlier and People certainly knew how he looked like.

- Lindberg done by... James Stewart, even more dissimilar

- Randolf hearts done Orson Wells in Citizen Kane, they look NOTHING alike and people back then knew that for sure.

- Lou Gehrig done by Gary Cooper, they look nothing alike.

- Frank Wead, a major force in creating the airforce, done by John Wayne (if you saw the pictures you couldn't believe how dissimilar they look).

There are plenty of others, but I think that's enough. The films were this occured are all pretty good. That's all that matters anyway.

That's true but in those days they used Anthony Quinn whenever they needed someone of a different ethnic group. It was a running joke that he'd play everything from Greek to American Indian to Indian (from India) to Mexican and on and on.

They should have used Kutcher, man he was spot on. I saw the movie he played jobs and I thought he did a good job, he even had that funny walk and everything.

I won't see it because of Rogen. His comments about Chris Kyle and U. S. Soldiers in general were disgusting and heinous. I refuse to give him any money from my pocket for as long as I live. It's a shame too because I found him quite entertaining and was looking forward to this movie.

what did s.Rogen say?

(and i don't mean what did fox news tell you to think.. i mean, what did he actually say? you got a quote?)

Well I for one think the actor on the left is portraying an excellent Michael Fassbender.

Frankly the resemblance to Fassbender is uncanny.

I agree. Tyler Perry should have been cast for both roles.

:D

This movie won't be better than Pirates of Silicon Valley. Noah Wyle played the best Steve Jobs. He was so good Steve Jobs had him come to the stage at a MacWorld.

YouTube: video

He would be perfect to play an older Steve Jobs! The movie could pick up at the introduction of the iPod.

Aaron Sorkin is a significantly better writer than Paul Freiberger and Michael Swaine.

Danny Boyle is a significantly better director than Martyn Burke.

This is why this upcoming film is likely to be significantly better than Pirates of Silicon Valley.

----------

The look of the character doesn't matter. Just like Eisenberg's character in The Social Network, this iteration of Steve Jobs is not a documentary figure. How he's being portrayed in this film is not meant to be 100% factual. It's a fictionalized version of a real story, and this is a fictional character based on a real person.

I think we'll be surprised by this.

A great cast and a great director.
Danny Boyle won't let this suck - he made a man stuck in a rock for a week come across as brilliant and energetic

There goes any hope that this movie will do well.

Do filmmakers even try anymore?

Someone get Noah Wyle on the phone please.
