Give it a shot, it's rather nice. I've been able to delete most of my news apps and RSS reader as a result of using apple news. Especially with the channels section in it.
When i open the app it doesn’t auto refresh, so it’s useless to me.

I don't understand why that's an issue? Just swipe down. But for the record, it does indeed auto refresh. I just opened it to remind myself and sure enough, it did. When i open the app it doesn’t auto refresh, so it’s useless to me.

Not true. If you are at the bottom of the feed when you exit the app and then later open it again before the OS has closed it there are two options to get what you want.Because if I’m at bottom of the app I don’t want to scroll to top then refresh.
No it doesn’t auto refresh, only when app hasn’t been opened in a while and the OS has closed the app.

Tap the today button and it zips to the top. Or it auto-refreshes and puts a "new stories" label at the top. Tap it and it goes back to the top and everything is refreshed.
I just did it after putting my phone down for 5 minutes after initially opening the app. The app was still in memory. I was at the bottom of the feed. It refreshed on its own and displayed the new stories button at the top. Tap and I'm back at the top and it has been refreshed.
I don't often use the main feed, aka "today". I use channels mostly. Where you can have a collection of your favorite sites. Or you can setup a topic which is a collection of sites sharing that topic, much like an RSS reader.Ok well must be a recent change, have a 8 plus with lots of ram and it wasn’t doing that before i will give it a try
Because Android has it?Seriously!!! WTF is the holdup with Dark Mode on the iPhone and iPads!
What's the problem with having an option? If you don't want to use something like that you wouldn't need it--basically nothing would change.Because Android has it?
I hope never does dark mode so you people can keep complaining about the lack of it.
Dark mode sucks

Dont think i will bother with any of that.I don't often use the main feed, aka "today". I use channels mostly. Where you can have a collection of your favorite sites. Or you can setup a topic which is a collection of sites sharing that topic, much like an RSS reader.
For example I have polygon there, a gaming news site. I also have a PC game topic. I can go in to polygon to read their site from within apple news, nicely formatted, or I can select PC games and have news on that topic from many sites. Lots of ways to set it up. Everything in one place.
Anyone else have a feeling that Apple will shaft users by making Dark Mode an iOS 13/14 feature, whilst making said version inoperable on older phones? The "killer app" syndrome to get people to upgrade?all i want is dark mode. Everything else is irrelevant
Not much too it at all, in my opinion. For me, Feedly works a lot better.I'm looking forward to finally seeing what the fuss is about with Apple News.
You do realize that emoji's aren't something Apple really decides on or anything like that, it's more that they stay up to date with what the Unicode Consortium goes with.I'm disappointed in Apple with this update. I don't care about performance or stability or bug fixes or functionality. The only thing that matters is more emoji, I mean, what's the point of an update if we don't get a few hundred additional emoji? I guess I've been conditioned to believe this was Apple's new priority #1 ;-).
It's been suggested and talked about in the context of iOS 11 and iPhone X, and even before that. So far, here we are still without it and without any particular details/limitations related to it.Anyone else have a feeling that Apple will shaft users by making Dark Mode an iOS 13/14 feature, whilst making said version inoperable on older phones? Shameful, but entirely within the realm of possibility.
Just updated to 12.2 beta and no apple news for me. My region is set to Canada. App not available in App Store... iPad Air 2. LTE. Any ideas?
Non-polarized sunglasses should do the trick .. +2all i want is dark mode. Everything else is irrelevant
