In the United States, users who are not subscribed to Apple TV+ will be able to watch the first season of Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Trying, Prehistoric Planet, and Bad Sisters for free in the Apple TV+ app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the Apple TV. The promotion will last until January 3 and was first spotted by 9to5Mac.

Apple TV+ costs $6.99 per month and comes with a free seven-day trial for new subscribers. Users can also subscribe to Apple TV+ through an Apple One bundle or through the three-month free trial offered with the purchase of a new Apple device.

I think this is a better strategy for Apple than a blanket free trial. Just make the first season/first few episodes free and people who like the shows will sign up. With free trials I almost always forget to try it out since there was nothing I wanted to watch when I first signed up.

I hope this helps more people subscribe bc imo this is a fantastic service. Unlike other services, I don't feel like I am being smothered by so much content just hoping something would stick. Apple, so far, remains smaller but with actual quality content. I look forward to see what is to come.

Side note --IMO Ted Lasso is such a feel good show and Mythic Quest & Acapulco both deserve more love.

Hopefully this means the follow on seasons for Lasso, Severance, Morning Show, FAM, and Tehran aren’t far off.

Why didn’t  do this worldwide? I doubt it will make this offer prominently known. Also, raising the price was a big mistake. Whilst all the other streamers are raising its prices,  would have looked like a great deal.

Instead of promoting Ted Lasso constantly,  should promote its other offerings more, especially its non-fiction content

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

The streaming market is crowded and Apple wants people to pay for an anaemic service where every programme has to be about promoting Apple's 'core values.'

I put off watching MQ for a long time because I’m not interested in gaming etc but midway through the first episode I was hooked!
Definitely one of my favorites. Along with TL and Slow Horses.

Blind people stabbing each other in see, sisters killing off their brother in law in bad sisters, etc etc yeah all apple core values. Take a day off!

I am also confused why this is US only? It cannot be any kind of rights issues.

i'm not sure why everyone was raving about ted lasso. it was mid-tier at best IMO. Tehran is so far my favorite though. Gave me 24/Homeland vibes.
The first season was fun, kind of an underdog vibe. The second season was just a soap opera and artificial angst. Who knows what the third season will be like since it will be the last and reportedly rewritten multiple times.

When did they get rid of the free year for apple device purchases?
It's been a while. They also only give three months of Apple Music which used to be a year also.

Edit: It may have been Verizon who offered Apple Music free for one year.

Me either

It solidified for me that I’m apparently far out of step with mainstream interests.

I very rarely am swept up by any show that is getting endless praise
I hear ya.

Just watched the movie "Emily the Criminal" that every media outlet was raving about. I found it to be a 7 out of 10. Good but not great. A one watch.

Ted Lasso s1 was sooo gooid.. and thats it, s2 was mediocre at best.
That happens with a lot of shows. Season 1 was great because it was someone's dream project. Then, they realize success has made them have to come up with Season 2 sooner than expected without as much loving crafting as Season 1.

A perfect example of this was FX's "Legion." Season 1 was probably some of the best television I had seen in decades. Season 2 was a mess with only a few carved out places of true brilliance. Season 3 was better but never got back to greatness of Season 1.
