I would advise against going on any vacations, because you might have to drive a rental. A horrible thought I know, but the world is full of horrors.

Plus it would feel like MY car and I won't have the pressure of driving someone else's car.

I don't even understand this. If you buy a used car you really feel like it's "someone else's car" and you feel pressure from that? What kind of pressure would that be? It's a car, not chewing gum.

Do you get weirded out if somebody else lived in your house before you?

What I meant was that it would be under my name and not my parents' which would mean I would have to be whole heartedly responsible for it if anything happened. It also means I'm ready to take up this responsibility

Well the whole point of this thread was to see if leasing was an option for me or not since initially buying a used car was not an option. Just to clarify. I can afford a used car or a 3 year lease, just that I didn't know the details of each option that was available to me. Sorry about the misleading title.

If I were to get the IS 300 I would be able to afford it just that I would have to pay monthly. If I had my parents pay the whole thing for me I would be better off. Plus it would feel like MY car and I won't have the pressure of driving someone else's car.

The point here is that my initial thoughts were to buy a used car with some reliability. I probably do have a pretentious attitude, but it hard to go back to something after you've used something better. Hence I haven't used Windows in over 3 years.....

There are a lot of people who have a hard time going back, and I'm one of them....

Really that is where you are wrong. It would be a better idea for you to get out of the luxury car and get something cheaper now because when you get out of college and on your own you will not be able to afford luxury. It takes a while to be able to afford that stuff.

That feeling of it is your car will stick with you. The fact that it is not luxury you get over really quickly. I can promise you that. You never having owned your own car or had a call that is called yours would not understand that. My car is my car in ever since of the word. Legally it is still in my parents name but that is for insurance reasons. hell of a lot cheaper to pay them to stay on there policy that be on my own 50% less.

I will admit the car is a combat base line car being a sentra but I still like it. Hell I honestly missing my old 92 sentra as much bad as that car was I loved it because it was my first car. This will be that way to you as well.

Think of it like it being your first car and the best route is go to a non luxury car so you are not corrupted for life. Hell my parents screwed up and corrupted me to want sportier cars when they got my the orginal SE-R for my first car because now I can only drive over powered cars because I am used to that extra power.

Yeah, my bad. I totally misread what you were saying. My apologies.

I understand what you mean by corrupted that's what happened when my parents ditched my 1989 Honda Accord for a 2002 Toyota Camry and then ditched that for a 2006 BMW 325i...... So as of now I am corrupted..
