Well, I was at best buy this afternoon and thought I'd check out the iPhone 8 even though I am not planning of an upgrade.

When I got to the iPhone table I had a hard time telling iPhone 8 from iPhone 7, had to rely on the table note to make sure I was holding the 8. And then....what? this is new? It feels just like 7, which feels just like 6s, which feels just like 6. I was ready to put it down after just one min of playing. But then I thought I should try out the 3D Touch to see if Apple has added additional 3D Touch menu. Well, guess what? There was lag! I didn't believe it so I tried the iPhone 8+ next to it and yes, there was lag!

I don't remember the last time I was as underwhelmed on a new iPhone as I was this afternoon.

Let's see if iPhone X can save the day.
Is it just me or at the apple store the 8 was slower?

You mean aside from the completely glass back?

Funny you mentioned that. I anticipated to be checking the back more than the front but once I held it in my hand, I had a look at the back, 5 seconds later, flipped back to the front. I guess it's good for wireless charging but nothing really that special about it.

People get their hands on an iphone 8 and all they talk about is the superficial elements of the phone. Stick it in a case and it looks like every other phone ever regardless. I upgraded from a 6s+ and I can tell it's a brand new spanking phone every time I use it. Even if it's practically a revision of an older phone in terms of build. I was not expecting something ground breaking, not sure what others expect from it. You want something different, go for the X.

I know, I know...how the phone looks and feels is important too so superficial is a harsh way to describe the aesthetics which has been at the forefront of development for so long. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder afterall.

Yes, the “sheer weight” of the beast. Makes my arm hurt!

I know! My left arm is starting to look a little like Glenn Quagmire's, if ya know what I mean.

Never said it was special. I was just pointing out the glass back to the poster who thought the weight difference was the first thing she noticed. People need to leave their chairs and start pumping a little iron. :)

For me I like the weight of the 8. I actually feel like it is a phone. Personally I am not a huge fan of thinner and lighter.
*gasp* you remind me of Android users back in the day, with their lightweight plastic shells that are a selling point compared to iPhone. To me, I prefer thinner and lighter, though materials have to be better (carbon fiber perhaps)?

Sorry for being harsh but it has to be said.

I'd be pretty disappointed upgrading from anything 6 and newer knowing the feel in the hand is largely the same. Hence why I never consider upgrading my 2011 MBA to a newer MBA. Yes, I know the newer stuff is faster but I don't want it to look and feel the same as my old device!
Sorry.

I like the the heavier weight of my mobile phone.

I personally love my new 8 plus. I upgraded from a 6s and it feels new in every way. I don't know how people who upgrade every year could expect a radically different experience each time. If I had a 7 there is no way I would get the 8. The X is for all those who are dying for a different experience. I just hope its all its cracked up to be. But you know by next year everyone will be bored and complaining about the X.

I upgraded from a 6S to an 8, don’t care at all that the feel is the same - it’s tried and tested, I know I’m going to like it. I’d rather not be a guinea pig for the X - first iteration’s always got issues.

kinda like apples first jump into wireless charging?
:D

Lol I guess maybe I am just old school. I just relate some semblance of weight in an object to durability. To me I was afraid the next iPhone was going to be as thin as an iPod Touch.

I love my 8+, just the feel itself had me happy I upgraded, love the glass back and front. I was planning on the X till I realised the screen was smaller than the 8+ and the AMOLED burn in issue worries me a little bit as I spend a fair bit of time on my phone like I reckon we all would.

I really don't see image retention or burn in being a serious issue with this new iPhone. Mainly because, image retention is rectified by having the pixels shifts so that way it prevents any type of stagnancy where it affects the display.

I'm just going by whats out there on the net about these screens, I see it could be a issue but only time will tell.

There is always going to be someone unhappy. I personally love my 8+. My daughter received my 6s for her birthday present. I notice a big difference in obviously the size and weight but I am mostly pleased with the camera quality difference.
