First time in 🇦🇺🦘I won’t be able to pick up my phone at 8am when the apple store opens 🤦‍♂️🥺🔒

That's pretty darn impressive. You've really gotten you're money's worth out of a 5s...
With just a new battery and lighting port, it's been a good phone. I guess that's part of the promise of Apple. Here's hoping the next one lasts at least seven years—loaded flagships certainly don't cost $500 anymore!

Edit: I misremembered, the top 64GB model retailed for $399 with contract! I won't say cost isn't justified on newer models, but what a difference.

If the features in the new phone don't interest you, you're definitely not obligated to upgrade. In my case, I still use a 6S, so upgrading would actually mean losing features I still use, like 3D touch and a proper headphone jack. LIDAR sounds like it has great potential and I'd probably consider a new phone with it. But, like 3D touch, there's a risk that Apple will just drop the hardware if they don't think it gets used enough by app devs. So just consider what you prefer to have in a phone, and weigh it against what a new one gives and doesn't give you.

Heh, as there will be no new iphone without pwn, i will probably sell my ip11 to buy ip11 with different color🤣

OP I don’t think you’re alone, as most replies will have shown.

I’ve got the 12 mini and was pretty certain I was going to upgrade, but if it’s going to be the same thing with an extra hour of battery life… I’ll stick with what I’ve got. My other option is to get the new Pro model but only if the camera has been vastly improved.
