That's the first SS Watch I've heard of anyone getting before mid-May. Did you get the same delivery window when you preordered?

Yep. 12:05 email confirmation. Order has always said 4/24-5/8.
Nothing has changed today.

I was a good husband and ordered my wife's first. Hers is preparing to ship. Mine is still showing as May.
I placed an order for 2 38 Sports at 12:02AM PT: one Blue and one Black. Both went through with 4/24-⅝ dates.
I happened to check availability a few min later, and noticed that while Blue was still showing 4/24-⅝ availability, the Black had already slipped to May.
My wife and I are traveling abroad on 4/30 for 17 days. I suddenly got worried that somehow, even with a very early order, that Black may be on very short stock and it might not arrive in time. And I really, want to get one before th trip (what better way to put the watch thru its paces, but on an extended trip overseas!)
So, at 12:23, I placed another order for a White 38 sport (my second choice).
So as of now, the Blue and the White have been charged and are preparing. The black is still in Processing with no charge to my credit card.
I'm still thinking the Black will make it here in time, but I'll admit, I'm very happy I ordered the white one too just to cover my bases!

Ordered a SS 42mm with classic buckle. Order was complete within the first 25 seconds that the site was live. My status changed to preparing for shipment today, and my CC was charged around 5PMcst this afternoon. 4/24-5/8 indicated timeframe on initial order. Fingers crossed. Screen shots are from earlier.

Couldn't get both images on one reply. Sorry for the double, but I thought that it may be beneficial. Also of note, my wife ordered hers (38SS Milanese) seconds after I placed my order. Same shipment date, but her order hasn't changed to "preparing" yet, and her card hasn't been charged yet.

Space grey 42mm sport was the most popular model (and also probably the one Apple produce the most).
38mm steel watches sold out 6h after the start (last to sell out).

If I had to guess, I'd say it is the milanese strap that's keeping up her order. If she had ordered it with the default band it would be prepared for shipping.
That's exactly like my order (same time stamp too). Still processing.
I ordered 3min after and my order is still processing so im thinking we are on the back end of the delivery date..
My experience in the UK with other products has been status changes are often very late .... I think the 6 came from a distribution centre in the UK whilst previous products have shipped direct from China .... difficult one to call ..... but it does seem that nobody in the UK has detected status changes yet and I cant believe that nobody in the UK will get a Friday delivery !
Apple actually quietly changed it to "The watch is coming" .. It no longer says the 24th.
Yep, money was taken about 30 minutes ago.
But still no status change on my order.....
