With my Macbook open I have received all text message notifications even while using iChat simultaneously on my Macbook. EXCEPT for the last 6 texts in a group message I noticed.. I have received notifications of maybe 3 emails out of 20 this morning on my :apple:Watch

Makes no sense to me.. How do I receive the first 2 notifications of messages in a group text.. then people in the group reply 6 times and l I don't receive any notifications from the group text anymore..

What mailbox do you have selected on the iPhone watch app on the "include mail" line? Perhaps you have it on something like VIP that misses some mail out?

Also, some notifications don't continue if you don't action the first one. For example, on another forum I'm on, I get a notification of a new thread item, but if I don't visit the forum and look, I don't get any more notifications on that thread. Not sure if that happens here because I haven't used the notification system.

My notifications have been working 100% reliably since day 1. It took me a couple of days to figure out that if they don't have sound enabled on the iPhone, they won't tap you on the Watch. (So for example, you can't even GET App Store update notifications on the Watch because they don't even have a sound option.) Once I figured that out, I felt like I had discovered a whole new layer of control over what I see on my watch and what I don't. In my opinion, Apple did not do a good job of explaining this. In fact, they didn't explain it at all.

Sounds like the OP needs to get into an Apple Store and see what's going on with their Watch--if it's user error they'll explain what's happening. If it's a defect, they'll replace the Watch.

I only received a notification for Rok73's reply to this thread. Nothing from lchlch and andrew! Ugh.. My texts were coming in fine with no issues that I could tell..

Yes I updated.

Can you do the same test again. But this time use your phone. Are notifications coming through 100% on your phone?

Bulliondesk,

Thanks for posting this. I don't have my Watch yet as my order is still in Processing but what you describe is very disturbing. I have multiple Apple devices that I use concurrently as well.

The only reason I'm getting the watch is for notifications. I love my traditional watches and was planning to wear my Apple Watch WITH the other watches in my collection and not INSTEAD OF.

So if the notification function is not reliable then I'm very worried.

Please keep us updated if you find a solution.

All my sounds are turned on for Notifications on my iPhone should I also turn on the sounds for the Watch Notifications?

That's not necessary. If you only want to be tapped then so be it.

Triple checked all my settings. Everything is as should. Am receiving text notifications perfectly now. Did not receive this email notification of your reply to this thread AGAIN. Ugh. But am receiving SOME email notifications.. I don't get it. Really pissing me off.

I don't have an Apple Watch yet but emails for replies on MacRumors are always hit or miss with me. They come in about 20% of the time, and don't about 80% of the time.

How are emails from other sources? Is it only email notifications from MR or from all sources that are screwy?

All emails are screwy. However, I just received THIS response notification on my :apple:Watch.. Yay! Ha.

If you do not have sounds configured on the app on the iPhone, then you will not receive a tap on the watch -- only the red dot will appear.

This is regardless of if you have sounds enabled on the watch.

Make sure that when you are using your iPhone, that you receive a banner and a sound for every alert you'd like to be alerted to on the watch.

I would not worry about this. I also primarily use the Watch for notifications and have been able to get them working exactly how I want. The only problem I had was because I had disabled so many notifications on my iPhone, I'd forgotten which and where to go back and re-enable them -- the Watch mirrors the phone, for the most part.

All my sounds and banners are turned on the iPhone. Did NOT receive this response email notification on my :apple:Watch. But did receive the one above.. Unreal.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I took the sound settings in the app for granted. If you define the notifications you want to receive on the watch the sounds AND tapping are activated as a standard as far as I remember.

I've set my watch to silent mode anyways so I don't have any sounds except for alarm clock and timer
