Are there any news here? I do not see any signs on the Apple site. Nothing in the war of press releases....

Certainly before Christmas, but not real soon....
HecubusPro said:I guess that depends upon what you mean by "real soon." I've been waiting for merom MBP's since June, so waiting a couple of more weeks does seem real soon to me.
From all we've heard, rumors, speculation, truths and half-truths, everything points to Apple releasing C2D MBP's in the month of September. Couple that with a mac mini refresh at the same time, and it's going to be a fun month for mac fans.
But months? That is highly unlikely. It's always a possibility, but doubtful.

Intel releases are so fast that the only hope a company has is to release as soon as Intel does (as many pc vendors did on Monday). If Apple doesn't get in the groove pretty soon they will be left behind. Sorry Apple, that is just the way the pc industry is these days. You wanted Intel? Then follow the Intel releases. No excuses.dejo said:As soon as Apple releases the Core 2 Duo notebooks, Intel will announce the future release of a Core 3 Duo chip and people will start waiting for that. There's just no winning this game. Buy when you need. You can never stay ahead of the curve.

You know and I know that preannouncing a release is no big deal, but the average consumer doesn't know that. I suspect that to the average consumer it can make a big difference in perception. And preannouncing would be nothing new to Apple; as I recall the MBP was announced long before it actually shipped.milo said:Nobody released machines on Monday. PC makers ANNOUNCED new machines yesterday, they're not shipping yet. Apple doesn't need to "get in the groove" until someone actually ships one of these. Until that happens, they're only "left behind" in the vaporware race.
How exactly is failing to announce machines THAT AREN'T SHIPPING "dropping the ball"? I guess apple should go ahead and announce Core 3 machines, shipping in 2008...just to be "ahead"?
