I know is a first world problem and rediculous. Just polling the group here. Space Gray or Midnight. I love each equally, one is classic, the other more modern, I love how the midnight glows blue in sunlight, I love how space gray stays flashy even in the dark. I know I should be in a looney bin. Thoughts? About your favorite color, not that I should be in a looney bin.

I haven't seen the Starlight in person. I should have because I was at the Apple Store yesterday picking up my Midnight but, I didn't even really think to do so. I really like the Midnight color. Who knows, I might also like the Starlight just as much but, at this point, it isn't worth it to me to exchange even if I did like Starlight just as much.

Silver all the way. =P It's timeless. I'll be rocking my silver M1 MacBook Air for years to come.

I used to have one of the old black MacBooks, however. Between Space Gray and Midnight, I would personally go for Midnight. (Dunno how the anodization fares... I guess we'll see.)

I am definitely leaning Midnight. There's just something about it....

By the way this MacBook Air is by far the best Mac laptop I have ever owned and I have owned the most recent 14" and 16" MacBook Pro, the 14" being my second favorite and what I use at my job. This form factor is absolutely killer, I don't know what Apple did to this display, its bright, colorful, the blacks are deep, obviously not quite Mini-LED but just quickly comparing the two displays I really don't feel like I am losing that much screen real estate, in fact when they are not side-by-side my brain can't even tell. The speakers are super clear, not as much bass as the 14" MacBook Pro but I would take this form factor over the now bulky 14" anyway!. With Apple Silicon I don't even care how fast the processor is, everything is just fast and I am a Graphic Designer and could solely rely on this machine for my professional work! It's just a joy to use, Apple hit this thing out of the park!

Starlight without a doubt. I was shocked how much Midnight looked like a generic PC laptop after a while and it SHOWS EVERY FINGERPRINT. Like really sooooo bad. Starlight looks like fine jewelry in comparison. Cancelled my order and ordered Starlight, even though that means a two week longer wait now. It is what it is.

i think you can't go wrong with any color, as long as you simply go with what you like.
of course the other colors might be equally cool, but you'd have that problem too if you chose one of the others (unless you "simply" bought one of each 💵🤓 )

I too am trying to decide:

Starlight: Silver that's not silver. It will never match silver accessories. So nope.
Space gray: Meh - it's not my thing. So nope.
Silver: The classic. How can you go wrong? But boring.
Midnight: New and exciting. But a black keyboard on almost-black?

I'm leaning towards Midnight, but the keyboard concerns me. Can I type when there's almost no visual boundary between keys? Note though, I'm typing this on an all white keyboard - but there are Mariani (yes, that's the spelling I chose) trenches between them. I've also typed on Apple Platinum white keyboards and Apple Beige keyboards - all with trenches. And the all silver Powerbook keyboard was no problem.

Silver or Midnight. Silver or Midnight...

I saw them all in store today.

I've been using the same old Silver MacBook Pro for the last 12 years.

As soon as the M2 Air was announced I was convinced I wanted it in Midnight, but after seeing it in person, and I agree it's stunning, it feels like a gimmicky colour, similar to what Apple does with the iPhone Pro each cycle, and I'd probably get bored of it after a year.

Space Grey, to me, feels like its cemented itself as a classic colour alongside Silver.

Starlight was actually really nice, but just not for me. I've never liked the Gold colour option, but as most have already said, it really is a beautiful and subtle mix of Silver and Gold.

I've ordered the Space Grey and I'm very happy with my decision.

This post has been reported for being contrary and showing way too much individualism. :p

;)
I’m digging that you went for the Midnight, BUT… space gray or silver are my favorites when it comes to my laptops. 😀 You know I tend to go against the pack. Contrary and individualism are my go to state of being. 😂

midnight for me no contest , Im normally space grey but if they release more products in midnight then all my apple products will be midnight when its time to upgrade , not keen on gold but starlight is alright but would still be last pic
, silver is classic but not for me

To your point, I also think Starlight and Midnight are the modern versions of the classic Silver and Space Grey colors. I personally would choose a lighter color because I know that after several years of use they will look newer due to the scratches not being as noticeable.

you laugh, but imagine the horror when showing up at school with your brand new midnight blue MBA when the internet has already decided it's out of fashion and starlight the shizzle!

It's funny. With the new iMac colors each being very "popping" and distinguished, I felt like that if I was to buy one, silver would have been my choice. Wouldn't spend a second thinking it over, even. That one I know can look OK in any room 10+ years into the future.

With the Macbook Airs I genuinely felt like I had four colors to choose between. All of them blend in fine with everything. I guess I should appreciate that they actually put up color options for me to think a bit about.

I think I've arrived at the ranking Starlight > Silver > Space Gray > Midnight, though this is a very floating list. I find the darker the color the less "mac" it feels to me. Granted that more or less dates when I personally was introduced into the ecosystem rather than some kind of universal truth.

Can't go wrong with Starlight, Silver, and Space Gray in my opinion. Two iconic things, albeit aesthetic things, about the McBook have always been the silver-y color options and the contrast of the keycaps against the aluminum body; Yes, I'm less of a fan of the 14/16" MBP keyboard because of the black that surrounds the keys.

Fully agree. I don't understand the rationale behind the black keyboard surrounds on the Pros.

I think it was just a design choice. I've used beige on beige, dark grey on dark grey, bronze on black, black on black, white on white, and black on different shades of silver. The black on black keyboard of my new MBP hasn't affected my typing in the least compared to my last black on silver keyboard, and I'm not a touch-typist.
