I'm one that is OK seeing the taper move on.
Still on the fence about white bezels. Will have to see them in person.
Same goers for notch: I’m going to have to sit with one to know. Maybe, like iPhone, notch will be a non-issue.
While colors don't motivate me, I'm glad they are there for those that want.
Wish this device was here in time for the holidays as I know someone for whom this would be a perfect gift.

All the complaints on here are the 1% of people. The other 99% honestly will not care.

I used a pro in a store for a little bit and in that time I got used to the notch.

I showed my wife (completely not a tech person) the iMac design when it came out. Her response was ‘ooo I like the blue one’.

When I mentioned the white bezel she shrugged and said it still looks good.

How many time is MR going to report these same rumors in an article?

Bezel color is definitely not a feature. MR should title the article 5 rumors.... This article is nothing more than a repeat of other articles they have published on the same topic.

Indeed. Expect a similar story in early 2022 titled 'Getting ready for the new MacBook Air." ;)

To be fair, it is that time of the year where there is very little Apple news.

  • M2 Chip - Rumors suggest the MacBook Air will be equipped with an "M2" chip, which would be an upgraded version of the M1. It won't be as powerful as the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips used in the MacBook Pro,

I mean, it'll probably beat the M1 Max in single-threaded performance (otherwise, why have an M2 at all?). Probably just by ~9%, judging by the A14 to A15 change, but hey.

Dan asks us to comment on YouTube but I want to comment on MacRumors. And I don’t have a Google account anyways.

I’m personally very excited and hyped about the next, upcoming MacBook (Air?). I think the name could be MacBook, and it would make sense, as there aren’t 3 categories on this segment but only 2, just like with the iPhone: iPhone and iPhone Pro.

I’m not sure what will happen with the iPad though, the iPad is very segmented: base iPad, Air, mini and Pro.

But I would prefer to have simpler names and simpler lineups. So I’m hoping to see a 13,3” MacBook with a smaller footprint than the current Air.

Yeah, I think something in the lines of this, regarding the M2. Better efficiency cores, more video hardware codecs, slightly better Neural Engine and better graphics, but nothing disruptive, and probably made over the improved 5nm lithography we’ve seen with the A15.

The M3 I expect it to be a major upgrade at 3nm and maybe new architecture.

Posted this elsewhere, but I expect the M2 to be kind of blah. The A15 cores weren't much of a bump at all for the iPhone. The laptop gets a bit more headroom, but at best we're talking maybe 15% performance increases over M1 right?

I really, really, REALLY hope this one of those products everyone was horribly wrong about.

For Apple to take away the option of a professional-looking MacBook at the entry level category would be asinine. Surely they have to understand that there are countless people who need MacBooks for work but at the same time prefer a device that looks professional without having to jump to an over-powered $2000+ machine. I understand this is probably what Apple is going for, but it’s bull if they actually follow through with it.
This. I would not be caught dead with a flashy colored laptop which looks like it belongs to Saul Goodman, and has bezels which won't blend in videos and will hurt my eyes. No one asked for white bezels. No one.

I think the name Air is unnecessary unless they have three lines like they once did. Now it should be enough to have MacBook and MB Pro.

Yes, new design, different color scheme just like the 24" iMac (and yes, white bezels - get over it!), yes upgraded web cam. But that's it. No M2, no notch, no mini-LED. This will basically be a cosmetic upgrade until the Fall when the M2 is released. Apple will not release a 2nd generation Mac, before they're done with all the first gen. models; Mac mini Pro, iMac, iMac Pro and Mac Pro.

Spring - new Airs and Mac mini (cosmetic changes only - still M1).
Summer - iMac, iMac Pro, Mac mini "pro"
Fall - Mac Pro, M2-based Macs

So... umm, don't buy one.

No one asked for this iBook either, yet it was an extremely popular laptop.

I'm starting to wonder if this whole bezel thing is some kind of phobia - because it makes absolutely no sense to hate on them. Picture frames, window frames, door frames, curbs on the side of a road, margins on a printed page... these are all "bezels" - a transitional space to separate disparate content, areas, or views.
