With 3 days remaining on my 14 day return window I couldn't wait no longer for a update to correct the WiFi issues... I exchange my device for HTC M8... Which by the way is the only Android device I would recommend for iOS users

Excellent choice I myself may be going to change my iPhone 6 when the M9 comes out in the spring.

Way too many problems with this OS and iPhone 6, super frustrating I'm on my 2nd replacement.

Just a quick snapshot of my chain of events. I’m currently on my fourth iPhone 6 Plus 64GB here in London, UK. Every time I have spoken to AppleCare and told them that I have gone through all the Wi-Fi troubleshooting methods possible they have asked me to get a brand new retail replacement as I’m within my 14 day return period. I’ve been experiencing the following issues:

1. Wi-Fi disconnects and switches to 4G (Restart required for temp fix)
2. Wi-Fi is still active but there is no traffic or activity– often when in sleep mode for long periods of time. (Toggle Wi-Fi on/off for temp fix)
3. Wi-Fi disconnects and cannot find any networks (restart required for temp fix)
4. This has been occurring on both iOS 8 and 8.0.2
5. The issues are the same on both my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks
6. This is affecting my ip6+ and 5s (5s used to work perfect on ios7 on same networks) – My MBP-R and all other devices run perfectly on my network.

I spoke to AppleCare again yesterday and asked for their advice as its now my fourth iPhone in just under a month. This time they said that apple were fully aware of the Wi-Fi problem and that new repair tickets were not being raised for their engineers as they are already working hard to get this resolved. They also said they could see all the issues raised on the apple discussions boards which they usually don’t admit too! I asked what to do next and the advisor apologised and said this is clearly a software glitch and will be resolved in the next update. I asked for a timescale but unfortunately none was given.

As stated above I have tried all the troubleshooting methods discussed on forums and on tech websites but the only thing that gives me a stable connection without any disconnects (especially on my 6 plus) is turning cellular/mobile data off when I know I’m going to be on Wi-Fi for a sustained period of time (e.g. at home or work). I appreciate this is annoying but it’s the best temp fix until an update comes out.

Hope it helps everyone who is having issues with their devices that have cellular functionality.

Any comments welcome

Logged this issue myself this morning with Apple direct....

Worrying thing is the person I had the message conversation with hadn't heard of the loss or slowing wifi issue a lot are suffering.

They suggested I returned my handset to my provider or directly with the Apple Store.

It's taken me that long to wait for the availability of the grey 128gb iphone 6 I just know both wouldn't be able to replace there and then.

What worries me more, I mentioned a possible fix in a future update and the person from Apple didn't think it was a software issue.

Their responses to my issues where pretty much everything others have tried without success.

I'm holding out until IOS 8.1, if that doesn't fix the issue my shiny iPhone 6 is going back to the provider and I'll continue to use my trusty iPhone 5 which hasn't missed a beat since I've had it.

My iPhone 6 Plus stays connected to my 802.11AC AirPort Extreme all day long, but disconnects all day long on my work (university) WiFi. My Retina iPad Mini stays connected to my work WiFi all day long, but disconnects from my 802.11AC AirPort Extreme about once every day or two and won't reconnect until I reboot the router. The AirPort is new (it actually arrived the day iOS 8 came out so I can't test before/after), and before I had the 802.11N AirPort Extreme and it was starting to crap out across all devices, so I don't know. But when I first got the iPad last November it was fine on that router until the router started dying this summer. I have no idea what's going on, but do users of non-Apple products have this many WiFi issues? It's getting ridiculous.

Strange, my work wifi stayed connected today but as soon as I got home that one went tits up.

My home wireless router is pretty old but it was reliable. Going to pick up a new router tomorrow as I feel this issue is only on certain routers.

It's not. It happens on all routers. Well, of course, no one can definitively say ALL routers, but it happens on all kinds. I've got 3 routers in my home (various brands) and my wife uses the wifi at her workplace (on different router yet). The random wifi disconnects happen on both of our devices, on all 4 routers. It's an iOS 8 issue - not a router issue.

Save your money...unless you want a new router anyway that is!

I don't understand that either, it is just an abnormal amount of incompetence.

Pretty much EVERY PRODUCT they release has wifi issues at some point.

What is so hard about wifi in 2014?

They can not get that right, ever.

iPad Mini Retina here, even on 8.0.2 I am still unable to route often on wifi. Have done all the suggested fixes, however I still have to manually disconnect from my router or reset the iPad to regain wifi capabilities. Very annoying.

Decided to go and downgrade back to iOS 7 but see that I missed that deadline already unfortunately and Apple is no longer signing it :(

Thanks for the help but I do need a new router.

My existing one is that old it's been chiseled out of stone.
It only broadcasts in 2,4 and runs at a 56mbps.

Without me searching (lazy I know), does anyone have any recommendations for a easy to set up, good range router?

Best router I've owned... RT-N56U

Loved my Linksys EA3500 but it died so I replaced it with a Netgear R6250 after reading a lot of reviews but had some annoyances with it so I replaced it with an Airport Extreme last week and I really love it.

Also suffering from this on an iPad Air but I also have the spinning circle of doom constantly next to the wifi signal. Any ideas why?

Loving the look of the AirPort Extreme, couple of questions tho:

What's the wifi range like?, any issues going through walls, ceilings etc?.

As this is fancy wifi router would this be okay to run my Sky, PS3, PS4 and PSVita through?

Best router out today RT-AC87R Asus Best 5GHz range hands down (covers my entire house that NO other router has even come halfway close), works great with apple products and i also stream movies with it, It has UBS 2 and USB 3 ports right on the router to hook up a hard drive or ? I have 2 seagate external 3TB hard drive hooked up to it (one each port), the range of the 5GHz is just outstanding, it is more than double the RT-AC68R that was the best I found before, easy to set up BUT also has many advanced options if and when needed, I use merlins firmware to allow hard drive spin down, If you can afford this router it is not cheap but it is the best.
Merlins firmware

Oh one more is the standard 2.4GHz , covers my entire yard and beyond, I also set one up for a friend and it covers his entire house and yard at 5GHz , 1/2 acre lot he has.

MY wife used an iPad daily to stream from our dish hopper and the router works flawless as the other below also for her.

or go with RT-AC68R or RT-AC66R

I had an apple it is just OK as the best. I do not recommend it at all, no advanced options.

Yeah, if it's not one thing it's another. What's really unfortunate is that Apple was an early adopter of WiFi. They should have nailed it by now. I think the problem is that they go too crazy tweaking their algorithms to save battery by sleeping the chips and it causes issues like not waking back up, not reconnecting properly—maybe some handshake issue? I'm not a wireless engineer so I don't know. Apparently some wireless engineers don't know either or we wouldn't be having these issues.

For me, so far,
1. Little better range than the Netgear R6250 (which is a high rated mid-priced router. It was the recommended router on TheWireCutter until few weeks ago).
2. Runs fine for these wifi clients (always a few of them running concurrently): 2011 Macbook air, iPhone6, iPad, iPod, Chromecast, 1 windows computer, apple tv, wireless printer

So far, I have to agree with the 'it just works' tagline and I'm pretty happy with it.

Remember it doesn't have all the features of asus routers but in my case I don't care as i only use the Airport as an access point and have a Synology NAS for all the fancy stuff.

I posted this in another forum - should have been in this one -sorry mods ::

My iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2 12A405) regularly refuses to connect to any WiFi.

I *think* it may be after it's fallen asleep for a long-ish while.

The only remedy is to reboot the router, which always fixes it - WiFi comes back immediately.

I'm getting fed up of seeing the "gprs" status which indicates the problem.

Is this a known issue with 8.0.2?

I've been having the disconnection / slow wifi issues since updating to IOS 8.0.2 and read umpteen posts with possible fixes and tried all With no sucsess.

Some saying its software some say hardware some say router.

I've just set up a wifi hot spot on my MacBook Pro and connected my iPhone 6 to that hot spot.

So far, no drops in speed or complete disconnections from wifi.

To which, I think the problem is software related as my old router coped really well with everything I threw at it but it's strange how this new connection is staying on and constant.

Guys I don't know if this will help. I analyze my wifi around my home and finally set the channel to fix channel instead of auto.

This is the best wifi experince since I upgrade to iOS 8. Can anyone else help to confirm it help you as well?

Since my ownership of my iphone 6 plus i not experiencing any issues with my wifi connected to my bt-home hub 5,everything seems to be working as it should be.

That's not a new issue for me. I have had that on and off since iOS7. Some times there is no issue and other times it there. Heck when you get bored sit and watch it. It might go away :)
