Ok, it is 12:07, 22 hours and 5 minutes have passed and Flappy bird is still out there. Could it be a joke?

Nintendo maybe? The fish, the clouds and the green pipes are a ripoff from Mario

Doubt they even care.

Actually Hasbro changed Derpy's voice, because as many people pointed out, it was offensive to those with mental disabilities. Then the bronies attacked an up-and-coming animator, because she lead the charge to have Derpy's voice changed. The iTunes copy was just the first place to change the episode (The Hub's site changed it later that day).

My bad.

Do you know why the voice was like that, on a funnier note?

I'm with you.

People are so brainwashed into thinking that fame is the ultimate and most superior state in life, it's rather sad actually; by that I mean that people who aspire to fame (and of course nearly 100% never achieve it) and/or simply value fame never realise how the simple act of valuing fame devalues their own (not famous) existence. Oh the horrors of being merely ordinary.

They think fame makes everyone happy.

He could be lying; I already don't trust this guy. Either he's getting some serious grief from the media, or he's trying to get a bunch of people to download it before he has to remove it.

Where are the games that steal Nintendo's content and make money? This is the most lucrative one I've seen. Also, Nintendo does not have to prove that it hurts their sales. It's called copyright protection. Same reason you can't make a movie with Led Zeppelin music in it without paying royalties.

Do you know how copyright works in Japan or anywhere else in the world?

Yeah, when I saw some of those pics it reminded me of Super Mario Bros elements.

That's interesting to learn. The developer said the removal had nothing to do with any legal issues. Maybe he got worried that, should it go any further, things would start to come up which he couldn't fight off. I guess it would make sense seeing as he was defending the idea of a 'small indie developer' so closely. Maybe he just wanted to be an innocent, tiny mobile games developer who sometimes infringes copyright but not really.

Nintendo called - they want their world back... (joke)

Yes, they do care about ripping off their level design, as the game is still for sale (via virtual console).

Do you really think people are playing Flappy Bird when they really want to play Mario? The gameplay isn't even remotely the same.

Gameplay may not, but design, to me, seems to be the same.

So you buy a game for something other than gameplay (and possibly story)? Do you really see somebody saying "Well, I was going to go buy Mario ... but Flappy Bird is here and it looks similar enough"?

Companies can copyright images and sounds within a game now on top of environments.

Just try releasing a racing game set in the Halo universe and see how far that gets...

In places that aren't the US? Probably pretty far.

Save the old version!

If you updated the app using iTunes on your Mac or PC, the old version might still be in your Trash. You can save this old version by pulling it out of your Trash. You can then install the old version by deleting the new version from iTunes and your device, then dropping the old version on iTunes and Syncing it.

This game actually looks like Looping (old arcade game that was pretty much a flop, but where you flew a plane through "pipes" in the 2nd part) combined with the Mario world looking pipes and touch controls. I guess Mario was popular back in the day, but Looping wasn't (I had it for Colecovision and it got old fast; the arcade version is unbelievably hard and not in a good way). Basically, I don't see the big attraction and certainly no reason for it to appear on the local news like it did....

He may have been on the receiving end of some unwanted attention from family and friends. In Vietnam, $50,000 a day is a hell of a lot of money.

lol ... ok

"fame and attention he DOESN'T want" lol

For crying out loud, this is so funny

Very bad apps gets on the app store in the hope to make money and be successful, but when a guy comes along and he never would think about all that popularity in a short period of time, its "suddenly" too much ??

Lets run & hide from the paparazzi quick...

If he didn't want all that fame, why the hell did he put ads in ? Then again, who knows that a crappy graphics game would make have made so much money :)

Only cowards take down their own app, because "they don't need all this attention"

Just think yourself lucky.... most apps may not make as much as he you did in a short time span...

Instead of being shameful as he is and hiding under a rock, he should be proud of himself...

I would have been, and more importantly, i would have kept the app up "as the intention why i put it on the store in the first place"

Regardless of of any other excuses he wants to give.

Taking any app down because "its TOO popular" is a perk to me as a "This guy is up to something"

The only way, to me, would be if it's a legit reason if Apple removes it.... but saying I don't wanna be in the spotlight anymore its the whole reason your app is there in the first place... regardless of how "rich" you get.

Its not about money, its about downloads and making it available to all.. This he is not doing...

Ok, so he makes more than any other app, maybe... so what ? its a good game to allot of people :)

He should be proud of that, instead of inconveniencing users
