Popular flight tracking app Flighty has a new Connection Assistant that helps travelers make connecting flights at airports worldwide.

flighty-connection-assistant.jpg

Connection Assistant gives flyers a step-by-step guide for all connections on a trip. It will outline whether users need to go through passport control, recheck a bag, go through security, or change terminals, and it gives an estimate of how long the process will take. Adding a passport to the app will let users know if they can use e-gates or skip passport control.

Users will get a heads-up on how tight a connecting flight is based on recommended minimums for planning purposes, and how long it typically takes to get from one flight to another. Flighty says Connection Assistant combines flight tracking data with airport-specific procedures and statistical modeling of millions of prior flights to create a custom walkthrough for each flight.

Flighty is also now able to predict arrival and departure gates, gate range, or concourse when a flight is first added to the app. The predictions are based on the flight's historical gates, and on the day of a connection, predictions will narrow to the exact gate.

Flighty can be downloaded from the App Store for free, with weekly, monthly, annual, and lifetime purchase options for Pro features.

NEVER trust Flighty.

I was in Switzerland. Checked the day before in Flighty app. Says "tomorrow at 6:15pm". Cool. Goto sleep, wake up, slowly started packing to around 1:30pm, realized that I got a flight notice several weeks ago that the time changed from 6:15pm to 4:15pm with the option to switch flights. I double checked Flighty and it still showed the old time. I hauled ass, cleaned up my apartment to move out, packed, dropped off keys. On the train, I finally got the notice that the flight is now leaving at 4:15pm. Barely got to the airport, passed security with just minutes to boarding.

The core proposition of this app failed big time.

I was on the fence of buying a lifetime pass but that last experience made me reconsider big time.

Great app - But lifetime and yearly is too expensive. They should at least consider making some promos for those plans.

No subscriptions. Period. End of story.

I don’t know Flightly, and it is no use to me anyway, but there is a difference between paying a subscription to use an App (like Logic for example) and paying a subscription to receive a service (like Netflix for example).
It seems to me that Flightly would fall more in the second category.

I adore Flighty. It notifies me of gate changes long before the airline app does.
That’s definitely convenient but I usually will also specifically check the airline’s primary source for the most accurate gate number - NOT the app but rather the gate display board (FIDS) any time I walk past one (while on my way to my connecting flight) while flying thru a hub airport

Whenever there is a gate change, THOSE display boards are the fastest in reciprocating the updated gate (often by minutes) which can be the difference between going down the right concourse (or heading in the opposite direction) which, on a tight connection can mean the difference between making or NOT making your flight! I just always make it a habit to check that board when I past one. Some airports have them literally everywhere, which makes it really easy.

Delta even has one as you deplane, showing you the location of either your gate or your baggage claim carousel, if you’ve just arrived:
Flight tracking app Flighty offers Live Activities for keeping an eye on upcoming and in progress flights. The Live Activity implementation shows on the Lock Screen three hours before a flight, offering up necessary information like time until departure, gate, flight status, booking code, seat number, and more
Flighty app was also one of the first travel apps to include live activities too⬆️ these new updates will definitely be nice to have when I travel 😎

Flighty is a great app. However the lifetime license is way too expensive for what it is, and I’m sure many of us remember what happened to Flighty’s very popular predecessor, App In The Air.

I don't need this flighty app as because my airline always alert to let me know the day before my flights and also email me before my check in etc I prefer stick with my airline alert

On a recent trip to Italy I used Flighty for the first time. It worked so well for me, better than other tracking apps I've tried.

I had mostly used the airlines app before trying Flighty for a big trip last year. Yes I can get all I need from the airline apps but somehow I just found the whole experience with Flighty to be cleaner and more helpful.

Dude, does anyone use or look at signage anymore? You know, the ones updated on the fly, right in the airport?
I can't believe people pay that kind of price for this kind of stuff.

I'm not sure what features I've been missing by not paying for Flighty but I've found the free version to be very useful. I do check the airport status boards as well (just to be safe) but Flighty will alert me while I'm just hanging out waiting or at home or driving to the airport.
EDIT: Now I'm reading that you can use the flighty pro features for free for one trip. So maybe I was really using the pay features for free since I only used it so far for one trip (several flights for there and back).

What's a reasonable price? 99c? There is a $299 lifetime option.
They pay for the API access to flight data and thus it can't be 0 or money losing . That's the dilemma. I ended up buying the lifetime subscription and use it for all our travel along with Trip-It app.
