Ultra HD or Mino HD

This is a question I'm asked a lot. Both have very similar specs, though the Ultra has more flexible battery options.

It's not until you actually hold both (rather than see the pics) when you realise how smaller the Mino is compared to the chunkier Ultra.

I prefer the Ultra because it's easier to keep steadier and get a firm grip on,
but if I was a lady (rather than a 40 year old bloke!) with no pockets and a small handbag I'd be getting the Mino.

You can see my angle on it here

i wouldn't bother with either one. I had a flip mino that I got as a birthday gift from a friend, I appreciated the thing but it was just one more thing for me to carry and I don't like that. Few months later, got myself an iphone 3GS which rendered my flip mino useless.

UltraHD has a bit better color, wider angle lens, stereo mic. The sound from the UltraHD is much better than the MinoHD. Also, you can use AA batteries if your rechargeable runs out, or just carry other rechargeable packs with you.

Check these out and see what you think. This is what helped me make my decision.

I picked the UltraHD. I think the colors are better, sound is better, and the wider angle is nicer.

MinoHD is really nice, as well. The sound is great for its size and its competition, the video is nice and clear, the form factor is great, and its just slick for an HD player.

They both have semi poor low light performance. There is considerable noise with night shots.

Beware of the fact that Flip Mino HD 3rd generation camera's are not compatible with any usb ac wall plug (power adapter of any brand). That is what Cisco told me and it is true: if you connect the flip to a usb ac adapter, the screens says: Low-power usb port, battery in use, not charging; which means that you only can charge the camera through a computer. I use several flip minos in my classroom; store them for the night on a shelf while charging them with usb ac wall plugs and now I recently found out that the newest Flips could not be charged that way.
1St and 2nd generation Flips do not have that problem.

Flip Mino Charger

Dorusje... has Mino 3rd generation cameras in his school. Cisco gave you the wrong answer. There IS an a/c charger which works... I got one and at last the little 'green battery' sign instead of the 'low power usb connection' nonsense.

Thank you for reviving a thread that has been dead for about a year and posting about a product that has also been dead for about a year. Cudos...
