overall its been a pretty bleak year for British sport! Hatton, Hamilton & England Rugby Union all did really well, but its a shame we didn't bring in the goods.

But that's only ever because we expect everyone in British sport to be the best, all the time. Cricket, we've got to beat the Aussies. Rugby, we've got to win the World Cup. F1, we've got to secure a stunning rookie-season title.

Add it all up, and British sport is doing just fine. We just treat anything less than winning as disastrous.

Not to mention all the other sports we are best at that no-one mentions.

Sounds like someone got taught a boxing lesson, pure and simple, from someone heavier, classier, far more versatile and with a longer reach. In retrospect, he never had a chance but the hype had people's hopes up.
I think it's wrong to say that he didn't have a chance, but Mayweather's class did indeed show through in the end. Watching the match on the telly it seemed to me (admittedly not a boxing expert) that it was Mayweather's precision with his punches that made the real difference as the match wore on. He picked his moments well and took Hatton out with some clever, carefully placed strikes.

Mayweather still irritates me though. :p

And when will Brits stop booing other's national anthems? Bunch of cretinous thickos.
Indeed. It happens a lot at the football too of course and there's no need for it at all. Completely unnecessary, embarrassingly crass and in complete contrast to the dignity Hatton displayed in defeat.

First no he wasn't taught a boxing level. Mayweather farted about, was all over the place with elbows and arms and the ref should have pulled him aside on a number of occasions. Secondly, the ref wrongly pulled them apart on more than 3 occasions when Ricky was starting to get a chain of punches in. The Ref was poor and Mayweather was nothing special. As said above his biggest asset in this fight were he accurate punches.

As for the national anthems if your referring to the comments here blue did you actually watch it? Its not the anthem that bothers me.... i actually like the American national anthem.... it was the embarrassingly shocking way it was sung by someone that sounded like a teenager going through puberty!

^Pity that your biased analysis, for want of a better word, doesn't chime with all the boxing reporters in the qualities this morning, and no I wasn't referring to your comment about people booing. English sports fans have a well-observed habit of booing national anthems, just a pack of meatheads.

And watch who you're telling to 'wind their neck in'.

Great fight. Watched it with some friends and we all thought the crowd was obnoxious and clearly pro Ricky. The song they kept singing was funny though.
