Yeah it's terrible. For a $2000 computer you're going to pay $200, and i'm sure you will end up paying more than that at the Apple store :D

Possibly. There is a major "flight path" by our house. It's pretty cool because they don't go straight, they actually turn 90 degrees over our house, you can almost always see the logos on the planes. So it is possible

Wait, so are all the Apple Stores in Chicagoland (Deer Park and Woodfield included) in Cook County? Not exactly sure how that works. And I'm planning on spending $2400 there... MacBook Pro ($1800 w/ edu discount), 16GB iPod touch ($100), Applecare ($239 w/ edu discount), and an Incase sleeve. Ahh crap.

And that sounds cool. Haha.

I know Woodfield is, not sure about Deer Park because Deer Park lies on Cook and Lake county, majority of it being in Lake. So who knows.

I love Chicago, there is a lot to love about it, and little to hate. Tax is either 1st or 2nd on that bad list though.

I think my sister said that the reason why we're going to Deer Park is because of the lower sales tax, so let's pray that it's lower. Do you by chance know the sales tax in Lake County?

My family lives in a farming town (yet none of us farm, go figure ) but me being the tech person and my sister the... Not so farm girl, we love big cities. She loves it up there and she's having fun working up there. If I didn't want to move to California, I'd probably move to Chicago.

That's kind of the same with me. Elgin (where i live) is a booming city, one of the biggest suburbs, and it's getting a lot of rewards for its libraries, rec center, and this new amazing hospital being built that is right up the road from me. What is cool is, i live in the single part of the town where there is little around. It's like a forest preserve. There is a river right by my house, and they are doing this massive restoration. I used to live out on a farm for a few years before this, don't ask me how that went, that was eh...

But now, i love it. I love being secluded, but so close to everything. And Chicago at Monday morning at about 1AM = Best time to be in Chicago. The city is EMPTY but everything is lit up, it's just amazing.

Went on there for a little bit, lol, but the sales tax in lake county, it's lower, but i'm not sure what it is to be honest.

Sounds like you have a spot that many would love to have. That's very cool. My sister and I and probably her friend as well are going to see fireworks somewhere on the Fourth of July. Do you, by chance, have a suggestion where to go? She's only been up there two months now.

And I've been finding 7% seems to be the rate up there. That definitely puts me at ease a bit.

For sure, For Sure, FOR SURE (can't say it enough) go to Grant Park. Hands down. It's going to be extremely crowded though because of the taste, but that is another thing i would check out while in town.

Make sure you take public transportation. Or you'll probably be done at midnight and won't get home till 6AM.

7% sounds about right.

I will definitely tell her about it. And the Taste of Chicago is something we're definitely going to. This is going to be a fun trip. :D

Thanks for all the information!

Isn't there an Apple Store in DuPage county? Last time I was there the tax was only 8.0 %. God I miss the Chicago area.:(
