Is it really going to be this expensive? Apple can make tablets for so cheap, how much extra does the ability to fold it add?

Color me skeptical on durability. Definitely will not be an early adopter on this tech, especially on a $2k iPad.
Flexing electronics repeatedly. What could possibly go wrong?

The crease is from permanent changes in the screen as it has been flexed back and forth - that will eventually impact the electronics as well as looking like a dog's dinner. I still think a better idea is to join to fixed panels with a precision hinge, but that's just my opinion.

This will join the Vision Pro as an overpriced dud.
Despite its limitations, the Vision Pro is the most useful portable high-resolution Mac monitor I’ve found, but a foldable iPad with a resolution over 4K might be even better.

When was the last time they weren’t behind the curveball, AirPods maybe?? What’s happened. Sloppy software, old hardware, embarrassing extras like a height adjustable stand… what is going on.

I'll believe it when I see it.
At this point from now on macrumors.com should NOT publish ANY detail or mention from former analysts that were incorrect about the folding iPhone from the past 6 yes.

At this point Apple should give up n focus on a dial folding 3 screen iPhone in the rumors cause this yearly garbage n rumors obsession is getting boring.

Sigh why are you even on macrumors.com? Name me the last apple product we were completely surprised by. Name me the last iphone that was kept in complete secrecy before it was launched. We know everything weeks before any launch.

Yeah. Because the supply chainers cant keep it in their pants we are more likely to be surprised by software than hardware. For example, while we knew about the 14 Pro's screen cut outs we didn't see the Dynamic Island coming. I'm trying to remember if we were surprised by any part of the M1-Pro/Max MBP or iMac redesigns.

Can you imagine how much less exciting Jobs' "One more things" would have been MR were like this back then. Think about if the first MacBook Air's body had been leaked prior to the keynote.

During jobs time they gave us something to be excited about. Macbook air was the thinnest laptop then. The iphone 17 air? I can hear it now - It's the thinnest iphone we've ever made! Nobody cares.

And the 12" MacBook was smaller and thinner with many of the same performance limitations due to its small and thin design. And once Apple made the G5 iMac part of the screen, after saying that was the wrong thing to do with the G4 iMac, they didn't deviate from that formula. All the wow reveals would have been known at least a month before the keynote.

But you're missing the point. If MR, AI, TUAW, etc. were leaking everything back then like they do now, "one more thing" wouldn't have the same impact due to us already knowing what would be announced. For example, sure the iPod Nano was tiny, but we would have already known it was that small. Heck, the iPhone 4 was a beautiful design, arguably one of the best iPhone designs, but imagine how amazing the keynote would have been if Gizmodo hadn't shown it to us.

Two items I have no interest in purchasing. We are reaching an inflection point in IT and Consumers aren't driving the next phase directly as much as companies want to them to do. IoT is not ready in so many areas, or are in areas nobody truly cares to invest in. AI is a gimmick. It's being driven to do very superficial work to drive data companies to remain relevant.

Hard Sciences have lots of room for growth of solving some of the most difficult outstanding problems that have been perplexing dozens and dozens of fields for decades. None of these directly impact any economic profiteering and that's the reason we get crapped on with AI in Social Media: the ever draining ad drug system of the 2020s.

Crypto is a boon for criminality. Disinformation is top tier business for sociopaths who want to rule the world.

Where does society, at large, fit in with the next generation of technologies as tools to enhance mankind, not subjugate it and turn everyone into mindless zealots?

Foldable phones? Tablets?/iPads? Really? Pathetic.
What are your thoughts on quantum computing?
