iPhone Fold would made more sense giving it's rumored lack of features but knowing Apple, they will avoid the word "Fold" or "Foldable" in all of their marketing, acting like they invented a new product category

I have a feeling this will sell reasonably well for Apple despite the price, and the quality concerns/potential delays…. I think there’s enough pent up demand for an iOS foldable that will carry it….. luckily I’ll be enjoying the show from the sidelines, as I have zero interest in the fold format…especially with Apple’s passport style iteration.

i really, really want a foldable phone. something that i can double as a convenient device for work on the go and a particularly nice multimedia device at the same time is cool. i work from my phone a lot and this would be great.

the consumer electronics market is being obliterated by components pricing skyrocketing because datacenter demand is cannibalizing production line time. i couldnt justify $3k for a phone, particularly a first generation product.

the pricing is going to impact this device's popularity long-term. i think it'll sell out immediately as a novel apple product, but will eventually suffer from the same fate as the vision pro: super expensive for a niche device that most of the population finds absurd and unnecessary.

The foldable iPhone "Ultra" will, according to my sources, definitely be shipping in September.

Over the next few week I will be making other predictions that it will definitely be shipping in October, in November, in December, delayed all the way until next year, and I might even make a prediction that it will be shipping earlier than expected in August this year just to cover all bases.

That’s scary I imagine the longevity of the hinge in controlled environments is going to be much better than real world. I’m sure an elevated apple care cost will take care of it for Apple.

The timing is most certainly final. Gurman doesn’t KNOW the timing, that part is accurate. 🙂

And, “despite hinge issues” means, “Hey, I TOTALLY have insider info, so insider, that I know details about problems they’re having even though there may be no issues apparent by the time of release… which, again, I have no idea when it’s going to happen.”

Look up cases for the Huwaei pura X max the cases will be the same style…. Obviously there will be way more options for an Apple product so you may get more creative options. But this will give you an idea.
