iPhone Fold would made more sense giving it's rumored lack of features but knowing Apple, they will avoid the word "Fold" or "Foldable" in all of their marketing, acting like they invented a new product category
iBook. They're bringing it back.

Definitely going to be a miss for me. I dislike foldable phones and personally see no point in them, and even more so if there is talk of hinge issues.

That’s scary I imagine the longevity of the hinge in controlled environments is going to be much better than real world. I’m sure an elevated apple care cost will take care of it for Apple.
The controlled environments are specifically designed for durability testing. Think a machine that opens and closes it thousands of times daily.

I wonder how much AppleCare+ will be for this thing.
Two options for buyers:
(a) Apple Care+ will have same coverage and $$ as for non-foldables but excludes the screen folding mechanism.
(b) AppleCare Ultra at $$$ includes + and the screen mechanism.

I bought my last iPhone, the XSustainability, in 2018. Personally having three essential use cases for a foldable, I’ll consider it. I have a hinge, the criterion for my decision won’t be the latter but rather the price, given the costly RAMifications of AI’s insatiable hunger for memory chips.

Wish they just focused on making improved / new versions of the current iphone lineup and getting them out quicker rather than this "iphone ultra".
None of this makes any sense. You want a new phone every 6 months instead of 12?

You should join the Apple team and show them how it's done.

Wake me when tech becomes paper thin newspaper a la “Minority Report”.

What

What's even crazier is that Samsung has sold about 35 million folds total since day 1... And I think Apple is going to sell that many in its first year....
You'd be wrong for sure.

The phone is likely to be over $2,000. Even on a service contract w/$1,100 trade-in, that's $25/month minimum.

The masses resist change for the better like a bunch of clowns and act like the economy is really that bad (it isn't).

Whatever it is going to be, Apple is t going to use the term "crease[less] anywhere cuz that implies a flaw in the first place

Haha this is what I’ve been talking about for months regarding this design.

Each time it triggers the Ultra-fans “tHe hINgE wOnT cAUse isSueS”, “iT WiLL bE As sTronG as tHe CuRRenT deSiGn” 🤣

Buckle up buckaroos. Physics about to enter the chat 😉

An iPhone and an iPad is still a better setup than a half assed foldable(good at neither)
You won't be taking an iPhone & an iPad for lunch with you. It will be cool to unfold an Ultra though to do some browsing or playing games while drinking your coffee.

So the hingegate is imminent? It would be a fun rollercoaster I guess. So fun that Apple might end up canceling whole series or getting dragged to courts for premature component failure unless they are gonna fix it for free (which I doubt they will).

However let’s see, September is just in two months from now. Maybe it will turn out “revolutionary” (I don’t believe that tbh)

I won't get this fold iPhone cause my friend had Samsung have a guess 2 months later it breaks the screen and unworkable so my friend went back to mobile phone shop and get replacement under warranty my friend said won't buy foldable phone again

I always keep my iPad in my bag for big screen reads like books. Otherwise I’m listening to music on my iPhone
