For the life of me I will never understand the people that flood every single iPhone fold article to tell everyone how they hate it etc, or even claim that nobody else would want the fold because they don’t want it. They act like they’ll be forced to buy it or that Apple is going to kill the existing lineup.

If it doesn’t appeal to you, fine, move on. Apple makes different products to suit different people’s wants. Do you go into iMac and Mac mini articles to announce that you don’t like them because a MacBook better suits your needs? Do you complain when the ice cream parlour also stocks flavours that aren’t your favourite?
Honestly, how many foldables do you encounter in the wild? They’re just not appealing nor practical for the masses. People are merely voicing the options. ✌🏻😊🙏🏻

I have some doubts about the overall size of this phone both while folded and unfolded, but really means nothing until I hold one and use one. I won't be getting one anytime soon anyways, so my opinion doesn't really matter right now. In 3 years or so, when I'm in the market for my next phone I might consider one.

Not buying it. There will always be a crease of some sort. Either one you can feel when you touch/swipe the screen or one you can see at different angles.

if the foldable iphone will use only iOS....it will fail..
we need iOS+ipadOS along side the apps that take advantage of the bigger different aspect ratio
It took nearly 20 iterations for iPad to get iPad OS that too not full fledged. If it is just bigger screen then it will be an expensive waste without adding lots of useable features of an extended display. But I am sure one needs to wait for minimum 3 iterations for this possibility.

Crease free display not possible. It may look fine in the showroom display without using much. But as soon as you start using it heavily, crease is unavoidable IMO. These are very expensive displays for repairs and Apple Care will making killing on this service.

I'll be interested in seeing how they accomplish this type of phone but personally have absolutely no interest whatsoever in owning it. I have an iPad at home for bigger screen tasks and am more than happy with a Pro Max form factor. I am also not spending close to £2k on a phone out of principle, and don't need to.

You put it better than I would.

All the Apple pundits and evangelists seem to think this doohickey will cost $2,500. But they also thought the VisionPro would be $2,999. I think they're wrong by that same $500. The Samsung costs almost $2,500, and they don't have to buy the screens from Samsung at a markup like Apple does.

If Cook announces "starting at $2,999" its as dead as the VisionPro and iPhone 17 Air.

By running your fingernail across it? Lmao ok buddy. Good luck with that

Like I said that’s not happening to any foldable in day to day usage. Also what you feel is a screen protector. It’s a non issue certainly if you use screen protectors which most will do

You mean, you’re never going to touch it?

Also it’s a screen protector you cannot remove. So yes, it absolutely does matter. Most people use tempered glass screen protectors, not plastic because it scratches

False

Can tell you’ve never used a foldable in your life

You certainly can remove the screen protectors and has no effect on the quality of the display or put it at risk. This isn’t the first Gen Z fold here

I’ve used foldable for 6 years and zero scratches ever. Scratches happen but it’s going to be user error for any scratches

I think it boils down to how many times a day an iPhone user wishes they had an iPad Mini instead to get a job done. We're talking about the convergence of those two devices after all, as it will run iPadOS (and iPad binaries) on the internal screen. From a software point of view its all taken care of.

It will be a nice device for some people but I can't see it becoming anything other than an enthusiast device. Personally I tried carry an iPad Mini everywhere for a few months and just found I missed my 11" iPad Pro or just used my iPhone.

I still don't see the point in a Trifold simply because it requires too much focus to use. You're not going to unfold that in the street and if you're sat at a table ready to deploy an M&KB then you may as well have just bought a laptop (or iPad with KB) in the first place.

Samsung's existing Galaxy Z Fold 7 display is 6.5 inches when closed, and 8 inches when open, with a 21:9 aspect ratio when folded and a 20:18 aspect ratio (...)

A1 = 20
B1 = 18

=IF(B1>A1;ROUND(B1/GCD(B1;A1);2)&":"&ROUND(A1/GCD(B1;A1);2);ROUND(A1/GCD(B1;A1);2)&":"&ROUND(B1/GCD(B1;A1);2))
