Do you like the overall LOOK of the way Folders has been implemented by Apple?

The worst part is the first time I tried to remove an app from a folder I ended up accidentally deleting it from my iPhone. This indicates a user interface flaw. If it happened to me it will happen to lots of other people.

These things are butt ugly. Apple should have made them look a bit better by giving the user the option to create a unified icon instead of all your folders looking exactly alike with that icon-within-an-icon view. They are so ugly, I had to resort to either not using folders (which really sucks) or putting them on the very back page (which....ya, also sucks).

Apple + folders = Fail

awwww booo!! I bet you were one of the ones who complained and complained about not HAVING folders and not that Apple implemented them, they're not good enough for you! So sad...

He's right

Yes the folders provide much needed functionality, but it does need tweaking. The whole point of folders is to find apps easier. If all folders look the same, it kinda defeats the purpose. Apple should allow color selection for each created folder, if not the ability to create an icon or photo. This is a great first step.

Where's the reasoning in that? Why didn't you try the same thing you did in the first place to get the app in there?

The RED X for apps in folders means the same thing as it does for apps outside of folders... DELETE! Makes sense to me...

I've had the GM Cand. installed since release and I'm still trying to get use to them. My problem is that miniturizing all the app icons may seem cool but it's really useless as a GUI cue. I'd much rather have a icon there that symbolized games, or utilities, etc. It would make it easier to spot what you are looking for w/o having to read the label.

Well is easy to spot the miniaturised icon in the folder, but regardless I would rather have a custom icon for games, utility etc... But let's face it, will still don't have customised SMS tone :)

Easy said if you aren't 40.:(

I thought they looked out of place when I saw them unveiled at WWDC.

The only spot I can see myself using them is in the dock, away from the others. Then put the the 4 most used apps in the top row of page 1.
Dont know until I see and have the new phone, but as they appear on everyone's screen shots, a bit gaudy.

You cannot do the same thing because it is a different context. There is no natural expectation that you should be able to drag an app to an area that is greyed out.

Of course on my second try I figured it out but that's not the point....plus there are a hell of a lot (most) users who pay less attention that I do.

Yeah makes perfect sense in hindsight. When you haven't used it before you aren't sure what direction they decided to go in yet. It's not like Apple are always consistent with such things, especially these days.

There is definitely room for improvement here.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

You will always have people that won't be happy no matter what.

I literally chased one icon with another for 10 minutes trying to drop it in. Good times.

I had the same damn problem. It was fun going from screen to screen to chase it down. I finally caught the bastard though and he had know idea what hit him... :D

somebody needs a whiner folder. Just grab, drag and drop.

That's right, you tell'em!!

lol what conversation? The OP's post was a RANT not a conversation starter. Look at how much he has contributed to the thread after his first post... see what I mean?

After a couple of days don't you generally know which icons (folders) are which.. Or do you switch them around often? Seems once you get used to them in a certain spot you would know which is which and would not have to read the titles each time.. Just a thought.

BTW, don't think i'll be using folders much either though..

I too would like to be able to choose an icon for my folder.

For now I would just like to be able to have a 4 icon folder (if i only had 4 apps in the folder).

I'm waiting for my iPhone 4 before I even messed around with 4.0. 4.0 really was made for the new iPhone and the 3G will suffer from that i'm sure.

The functionality of the folders seems awesome! (i wouldnt know yet personally, my phone is still backing up since 1 :( )

But i do agree that they do not look nice. They just look cluttered. Although really, it's not a big deal to me. I bet that is one of those features that Apple will change with upcoming firmware. It would be nice if we had the option to customize our own image for our folders.
