Greetings from team LWD,
[rant... rave... trash talk... blah... blahhh...more trash talk...etc...]

Actually just stopped by to say hello, my calculations show we're gonna catch you about March 2nd, so leave out a few doggie treats for us to snack on as we pass ok?

Of course if you pick up the pace some, we may never catch you...

Ok, some may see this as trash talking, but I prefer to look at it as generating some excitement between teams, I never look to hurt feelings, just rile people up a litte, in the big picture it helps the research. :)

LOL. Thanks for stopping by!

Friendly competition is fine...heck, it's what keeps people folding most of the time.

Stopping by to say "Hello" politely is definitely appreciated. :)

We'll see what we can do to up the output...but with the 4000 point/week advantage you have it would be tough to prevent you from passing.

Hey RowDawg....don't you guys need another lab at your place or something ;)

c'mon....abuse your powers!!!

again....IF our dept gets new machines this summer I can prolly add around 20-30 Dual PowerMacs....whatever configuration we may get....IS there a way to fold while waiting for someone to log in though? Cause that could be an issue...

Also, this may never happen, and if it does it will not be until May earliest.

cool, glad to see ya representin' :)

yeah my script already does the folding @ yon login winder. w007!

Just as a thought, maybe Arn could post the teams progress once a week/fortnight on page 2. It would maybe get a few more people intrested that dunno about macrumors team folding. Maybe even make a special team folding t shirt or mug to sell in the store and the profits could go to buy a nice shiny new mac for the to fold on...though this is unlikely..just a thought...ok maybe macs cost too so that bad idea as too many would have to be sold.

i took a little trip over to macnn networks let them know that we're gonna do our best to keep our position. so lets make sure we do that!!! ok? it seems like our active cpus are slowly getting less and less. fold people! fold! and how bout that new member drive? maybe one of the senior members should start a thread...i certainly would if you want me too.

we dont need more members.....we just need all our members to stay active. It seems to me that only a small number are actually active any more....dont just fold once and stop....yes it can take a while, but it doesnt do anythign bad for anyone....only good. So if it takes you a while....you wont get to the top 20, but it doesnt matter, in the long run you could be saving your own life.

Good points. It helps to get the message out to people who might not browse the DC forum, too.

That's why some of us have put some folding info in our sigs...might be a good idea for more people to do it, too. :D

i have another idea. how many of you folders get other people to fold, and talk to them about it, outside of macrumors? i'm sure some of you do, but if you don't, and you know someone that might be interested, just let him know to put his team at 3446! we could get active folders to branch out in the nonmacrumor community

no i'm sure some of you already do this but i thought i would just mention it anyway

also yes...a lot of the people on our team jsut don't regularly participate...but my guess is they've tried it and just don't want to and probably won't again...which is unfortunate...so i'm thinking new fresh members that want to fold is a good idea.

I was wondering why you were moving down lately...

seems to be working. the reboot is the real test

should get in a few units first though.

ADDED: i'm on frame 7 am as of 11 am est. i think i started it around 8 pm? so it's a biggie i guess. two biggies.

heh, for awhile i completely forgot about folding. but finally i'm back with arn's old g4 350... it'll fold almost all day, every day.

i'd like to have my powerbook fold, but it gets too hot & noisy

hmm does anyone have an up-to-date copy of the gui folding control client... is it even kept up to date? (i can't get to the site that used to host it anymore)

i'd kinda like to use it rather than run the folding client from the terminal

yeah maybe i or someone else will make one someday

the one you refer to stopped working w/jag

there is one that monitors your progress, but it doesn't set it up 4 u

I'm in!

Well, I'll help out. I'm now running 5 computers all the time.

800 mhz G4 - imac
1.8 Ghz P4 - Dell
1 Ghz P3 - Compaq
800 Mhz AMD - Generic
600 Mhz Celeron - Generic

I'll try to get some friends in on the deal.

Is the score calculated based on what project you pick? i.e. do you have to tell it to go after Folding? cause i think I had it pick its own project, and like Gnome@home or something got 99% of my results!

Question: I've been working on one unit for the past month, I accdentally let the screensaver and command line or graphical client, the whole unit restarts... it's really annoying, as it doesn't happen consistantly... only on occasion. anyone know why?

that may be your problem right there. take a look at this page for deadline information.

can u clarify? i'm not sure what u mean.

Okay... I'm quite pissed...
My dad shut off my computer before leaving on my vacation... god damn it.
I could have helped some... errrr.

Okay well I'm back from santa domingo (it seems so cold in NYC now :D )
Ech... I'm quite pissed now.

whatever... I'll be folding... forever.

Intill I get more friendly with my schools computer people (and they put on X) I can't do much to help but to try to slap my friends into maybe running it... :(

folding

Ok, so I just bagged Seti@Home for Folding, and I used the terminal patch to get things working on my DP 533.

I am looking at my CPU meter and I am seeing that both processors are maxed out all of the time now. That can't be good!! I this really something I really want to be doing to my computer? I don't want to burn out any of my chips or anything!

Anyone have any ideas?

-Pete

For proper functioning, you need to remember to change your team number to 10763, heheheh

Seriously, that's normal for your DP to be maxed out, it's working as hard as it can !

macrumors team number is 3446..10763 is the team little white dog, a rival of our team

smooth move toast

btw i'm running folding maxing out my processors but nothing at all bad as happened, and i've never heard of anything bad happening from doing that except from people who built there own computer and didn't install heat sinks or fans of any kind properly...but thats there fault.

I saw the thread and just started folding. I have it running on a. . .

G4 1Ghz
G3 350
AMD Athlon 650
AMD K6 350
PII 350
PII 366
P Pro 180

Hopefully one of them will finish a work unit by tomorrow so I can get on the stats page. :)
