Can I change any options so I can help MR more. :)

I use the screen saver one for folding.

I'm on team 3446. :)

I hope that your points are showing up now. It seems like it takes longer the first time. Patience is needed.

anyone else here chewed on p1139? after nearly 4.5 days I'm still only 57%, and this computer is almost always just folding (eMac 1.25 w/512 ram).

BTW lots of newbies in the mix, and as of today (sunday march 6th) the knights date has been pushed back 21 months! Way to go newbies! Yes!

I'm currently ranked #31 on the MR team. I've been climbing very slowing, but I'm planning on bringing a DP Opteron 2.0 GHz online next week, hopefully. No Windows, just Linux. Currently I have a 1 GHz Tibook, PM G5 2x2.5 GHz, iMac G5 1.8 GHz and a P4 1.8 GHz Linux box slaving away 24x7 (mostly). I figure the DP Opteron should boost my output around 35% or a bit more. We'll see.

Hehe, you and I seem to be be neck and neck. We joined up at around the same time too. I just added a third CPU to the mix, which is an eMac 700. I think it just downloaded that work unit, so I'll let you know how its going.

It has severly slowed production for me, I noticed ya 277 days back, I got more comin on line soon, and I could easily be dead in 277 days, so I won't worry yet! (as he laughs throwing down a guantlet) :p

To me, the screen saver version is better to create frustration than to simulate protein folding. It doesn't do enough. My suggestion is that you get rid of it and use the graphical version, if you want something easy to use. Then, you'll see a difference in progress.

My work unit is Protein: p1139_p1133_L939_K12M_355K and it seems to be crunching through a frame every 43 minutes. At this rate it will complete all 400 frames in a total of...12 days. Damn.

ya I'm looking at 9 days on that one, d*mn it too!

Sorry to hear about that but for the money 724's are the worst I had three of my best machines crunching on them last week for 4-5 days at a time for the whopping 63 points you get for them. I just had to keep reminding myself that it was for a good cause.

I'm thinking of playing with the scheduling on our compile server at work and get it plugging away on weekends/late nights to help the cause. Don't fret I have permission. It's a dual HyperThreaded machine so I should be able to get it crunching 4 units at a time.

I've been putting my computer to sleep when I go to school and when I go to sleep recently....so my output from my eMac has sure to have decreased a little.

I just checked...man I'm so far down on the list. How discouraging.

That's the time when it's going to do the most--when you're not using it for anything else. Why put it to sleep?

also have P1139's. It only takes about 2.5 days to complete them, not bad for a dual 1.8! :D I prefer the 1300 series. Lots of points and my G5 goes through them like a hot knife through butter! takes about a day and you get more then 300 points!

Hm, my Uncle just got a dual 2.5GHz G5, I'm sure he won't mind if I just happen to install F@H while I'm setting it up for him. :p And my mom's new 1.4GHz Mac mini will be joining the fold too. Looks like I'll be in the top 100 to stay, and I'm happy with that. :)

Has anyone noticed more fan noise or noise in general on any of the G5 machines? I would think it would trigger more heat in general, especially with the iMacs.

It sounds as though you are building strong farm team. Good to hear of all the support you are providing. ;)

Thanks! It's good to know that all of this is going to a good cause. With my grandfather a victim of Alzheimer's, I don't think any of them would mind if they knew their computer's idle time was being used productively. :)

P.S. To clarify my earlier post to everyone, when I said I'm "happy with that" I wasn't trying to be smug or anything, merely to say that I'm satisfied with being a top 100 folder for the team. I certainly don't have the CPU power to compete with the big'uns! :D

Let that G5 fold 24/7 and then you will be able to run with the "big-uns". I only have a dual 1.8, which folds 24/7. Look where it gotten me!

Are you saying that you are in the top 40 with just one G5? If so that is an awesome production output. Our goal should be to once again regain our #20 spot.

Yep, that's what it says. It does normaly do about 220 points per day. Now, it's a bit higher, maybe because of that new core, and the 1300 series, lots of points, little effort for my G5!

what is the best rank this team has ever had?

I think it was 17 or 18, but we lost several spots when it was determined a good chunk of points were not fairly earned by one of the members.

Okay, I wish to amend my previous statement! I just got back from my Uncle's last night and he had gotten the "top of the line" IMAC, NOT the powermac. Oh well, 1 extra processor is better than none! Plus he's got an older G4 iMac in the kitchen too, so there's one more processor. In any case, I'm going to be going from 5 active processors to 7 or 8, depending on how often I let my iBook fold.

How do you outfold me?

I've got a dualie 1.8 G5 at home and P3 at work, both of which fold 24/7, and yet you're out-folding me. I wonder how? I downloaded mc68k's dual setup. Have you tweaked your settings? (Not mad, curious/envious :) )

Well, my G5 gets special power out of the wall! ;) I really don't know how. Maybe because I have set my processorspeed to high, maybe it's only folding and I don't do anything else with it, and maybe I got lucky with the WU's I get. Before I had version 4 my G5 had a daily average output of 220 points. Now with version 5 (and the script of mc68k) it's much higher!
