For all of you waiting for the iMac update...

Every day Apple doesn't update the iMac or Pro, they could be enjoying my beautiful cash.

Apple is not worried, they probably know the company will get your cash eventually. I think part of the reason for the delay is this year Apple released the Iphone 4S, 3rd Generation Ipad, Apple TV and the Macbook Pro Retina, spec upgrades to Macbook Pro (non retina) and the Macbook Airs and Moutain Lion next month. These items are producing a lot of revenue this year. The Imac revenue will go on next year's books. Profit is the name of the game. Profit keeps the shareholders happy. Expect the Imac late this year or 2013. Apple is balancing the books my friend.

All true, but I still think the iMac will get Ivy + USB3 in July, then a major revision (Retina) near December.

I just want to let you know that my 27" i7, 3.4Ghz, 8GB RAM, 2GB 6970M came yesterday. I did a fresh install of everything and was fully operational in under two hours. I will work on the Windows 7 partition tonight. Cant wait to play some games...hopefully that old and tired 6970M can keep up...;)

Man does Lightroom scream! I ran PS CS5 through some actions and its SO much faster than my 2009 2.66 dual core MBP....(obviously).....Big Beautiful Screen! Remember "yellow tinge"? I returned a couple 27" iMacs when they first came out for this but this panel is perfect....Not so sure about Lion 10.7 though, maybe I just need to get over SL...

Every day you wait for the update is one less day you get to enjoy this beautiful machine....Just sayin!

This is how I felt last year :)

I wouldn't pay more than 80% of full retail price for a 2011 iMac today. It's a beautiful machine, yes. In fact I personally had one, just the same as OP's, a 3.4GHz iMac with 2GB 6970M, 2TB HDD and self-upgraded RAM.

But man, I bought it around June 2011, while it was fresh from the oven, spec was almost the highest money could buy back then. It was a great computer, and I paid full price in 2011 for 2011 machine. It WAS worth it.

Now the refresh is imminent, be it in July, together with ML release date, or later this year in fall. But if I'm going to buy one now, I wouldn't want to pay full money for 2011 machine.
So yeah, unless you get current iMac for cheap .... WAIT!

I personally wouldn't upgrade, man like I said, this machine is quite powerful, I just couldn't justify the cost and effort to do so. But for people with 3 or 4 years old computer, 2012 iMac will be a meaningful upgrade. So ... wait

Just sayin' :)

Nice buy. I'll keep waiting until, well until Apple updates it. Don't really need a new computer right now, but I do want a 27" iMac. And I"m more than capable of holding out until whenever.

I was waiting.....

but I was walking through my local BestBuy when I spotted an Open Box 27in on the top shelf. It was the 1699 model, someone bought it and it wouldn't fit in their desk (they had a hutch top desk) I opened the box at the store and everything was still wrapped in the original Apple plastic protective coating (Best Buy will re-wrap items, but believe me you can tell the difference.) I had to double check the price, it was marked down to $1150!!! Needless to say I gobbled it right up, and after a 16gb RAM upgrade, this thing is fantastic. I was a little worried about the 6770m video card, but let me tell you it is great. I have played Diablo 3, Batman Arkham City, Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 3 with no problems what so ever. If you are on the fence about the new ones, you can get a great deal on these models, Best Buy won't put the Open Box models down where you can see them, so when you go to the store...look up. They have all of the same benefits of a new mac, and even after a RAM upgrade and an Applecare purchase I am still under the price of a brand new unit. I just thought I would share for anyone interested.

Now that's a sweet deal. Too bad it depends on luck, only a few number of iMac could be had for that low. The price makes it worth more than 2012 upgrades :) Not to mention that painful waiting and uncertainty for 2012 upgrade should be included as a cost.

Congratulation and enjoy.
