Just a bit about Call of duty 4

I just got the Macbook Pro 13" 2.53GHz with 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD and I also bought the MAC VERSION OF COD4 and because I have the 13inch I have the intergrated chip (nvidia 9400M) and COD4 runs fine on medium settings but in the matches with more than 30 people then things start to lag because there is so much going on. Just thought I would give you a heads up:D

Would the game run better if I had got the windows version and ran Windows 7 RC? or would it be the same?

Refurbished 15" MacBook Pros are were it's at right now. The 9600M GT is twice to three times faster than the 9400M G.

The 2.53 GHz with 4 GB of RAM model falls in at $1449 if it's still available.

Unfortunately, I don't see that model anymore.:(

Then that would probably be the same for world at war and mw2 if not worse:(

I'm pretty sure World At War uses the same graphics engine as cod4 so you will have the same problem. Im not bothered about the slight lag in large matches mostly because I dont play many large matches. On the subject of mw2 then I would expect the game to be more demanding such as the recommended requirement being 256mb graphics instead of 128mb on cod4. But cod4 is almost unplayable on 128mb graphics chip as thats what my old laptop used to be so that may mean that mw2 may be almost unplayable on 256mb. Hope this helps but remember this is speculation.

Is there really that big of a difference because the price is $500 more, and how could you check that beforehand, because if I can't at least run those games, I would probably be better off getting the macbook and using the $500 towards buying a desktop or building a gaming computer.

I am not into gaming. So, I can't tell how specific games will run. But if it is 3D intensive, the differences will be big in frame rates. Already, the 9400M using memory from your RAM makes it so much slower than a GPU having its own dedicated memory.

At least check some benchmarking sites like barefeats or google "<whatever game name> macbook"..

It's not even a question. Windows 7 64-bit.

Any performance comparison links between XP, Vista, and W7 would be good if anyone knows of any. I'm currently using 32bit Vista on my MBP, I'd consider upgrading to W7 if there was a significant diff. Wonder how long before the BootCamp CP in Windows will be supporting W7 drivers?
