Yeah, there are plenty of very affordable USB-C cables there. But you know what? People are idiots. They'd rather complain about having to throw away their external HDD or whatever, rather then realising that those - by design - have a detachable cable that can be swapped for $10 or less.

the problem with adaptors is always the same that they add the lenght of the plug. when you place your hand on the wrong place, on the plug, the longer the "stick" is the more it adds the torsion. the problem here is that you can more easily break the port. i know people who have broken some of their ports because of protproding plugs.
