Then you haven't been around the jb scene much. There was times that a jb was out days after a release. Plenty of times in the iPhone 3G and 2G days.
I think I'm a bigger realist than most people out there but comex, the dev team and others have plenty of aces up their sleeves. And with the recycling exploits method we got plenty of options ahead IMO. But the bet is still open if you're down:)

I pondered about waiting for 4.3 jailbreak and waiting for cydia apps to update compatibility which could take hours/days/weeks. In the end Ive updated to 4.2.1 and used greenpoison.

Even if 4.3 jb comes out right after its released what are the dealbreakers over 4.2.1? .....Personal hotspot?......I'm sticking with 4.2.1 for a while I think until there is a compelling feature to be had.

Personal hotspot is a paid subscription to AT&T. I would just get MyWi and have it do the same for a one time price.

Apple's iOS 4.3 is going to allow the personal hotspot. Some people don't mind handing AT&T & Verizon the extra $20. So far, I've seen or heard of the 2 most popular tethering programs that are already updated to take advantage of the 4.3 update. I'm sure there are other improvements in 4.3 as well as the apps in Cydia, but this seems to be catching a lot of people's attention.

With all due respect to the Dev-Team (I don't want this to sound spiteful in the least) but I love the fact of recycling exploits but, I guess in your opinion AJ, why do these jailbreaks take many weeks even months? That's just been the question on my mind. I don't want to sound like I'm whining I just have wanted to ask that question with a serious answer. I think if we got a straight up answer people might stop questioning ETA's.

I think as the years go by in my opinion it gets harder and harder and Apple is getting better at securing their devices.
But again nothing is unhackable and if you work hard enough you will find holes on any software code.

True, the only thing Im interested in 4.2.1 is the free find my iphone feature and for 4.3 the hotspot feature that will be enabled thru a hack like tetherme for people with unlimited data.
Other than that Im patient. I got shsh's from 4.0 and higher so I can go back and forth at any time.

Yes 4.3 may be a week a way, but you definitely cannot say that about a 4.3 jailbreak. 4.2.1 came out November 22, 2010. The Dev-Team even stated that the 4.1 exploit would work for 4.2.1. The jailbreak just came out February 4, 2011 and it was buggier than the Redsn0w beta. If you want to follow that time line, have fun waiting 3 months while people are preordering their iPhone 5.

I don't understand your argument. How is waiting for the 4.3 jailbreak while on 4.1 any worse than waiting for the 4.3 jailbreak on 4.2.1, assuming you don't need any 4.2.1 features? It's not like our phones will break if we don't upgrade to 4.3 right away.

Even if there never is a 4.3 jailbreak, we can still always go to 4.2.1 untethered.

FWIW - the only reason I see for upgrading is personal hotspot + TetherMe. Everything else on my phone is working wonderfully. I'm totally comfortable with waiting until the 4.3 JB is bug-free and ready to use. But if it takes another 3 months, I always have tho option to go to 4.2.1. You guys seem to forget that Apple doesn't force you to update.

If you're fine with 4.1 then keep it. But if you want to be updated and enjoy some new features, go to 4.2.1 and jailbreak with gp. I don't see any bug in gp, but server overload.

Ok, thanks for the quick replies. It's not that big of deal to put it all back just takes some time... I was considering waiting to update to 4.2.1 until all the tweaks I use have been updated to support it. Is anyone else waiting?

I think Im going to wait for 4.3.
Update to 4.2.1 now, JB and reinstalling all my stuff when 4.3 is like a week away is pointless to me.
4.1 works fine, the only thing Im interested in 4.2.1 is find my iphone and that can wait a little longer:)

It took them a while to JB 4.2.1 (at least for the iPhone 4). I don't think its worth waiting more for 4.3 JB.
