YOU HAVE FALLEN BEHIND SCHEDULE.

Apparently you have too, and that's sedative medication schedule.
Why are you so unnerved by it? Let those who don't want to wait buy a different computer from a different company. (And honestly, if my friends were distinction fanatics enough to care so much about the latest and the greatest but didn't want to wait any longer for the objects of their -probably transcient- desires, I'd say they deserve the consequences of their actions, despite being my friends.)
And your friends sound pretty superficial if they're holding off getting a computer they've already decided they can use, in order to wait for a newer model only on counts of not wanting to have an 'old bag'.

Also methinks you're taking this way too seriously.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G 16GB: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

as someone who is actually in the market for a new laptop, I can honestly say I'm not sure I will wait. I really like the design and specs of the current gen MacBooks and am not so sure the new ones will suit my needs any better. And with the free iPod deal still going, buying now is even more attractive.

I would have preferred to wait, but I could not, so I bought my 15" MBP three months ago and have loved every minute of ownership.

Hey bozo video chat is a big necessity to a lot of people talking this way to out of town friend and family.

Magical. In fact, I'm using iChat to talk to my family back home in the U.S.A. from Ireland right now...

But there's a little thing called bandwidth. Not everyone has a T3 line to their home, and not every network can stand a bunch of ultra-high ("but it's only 1.3 megs!" shut up) resolution video streaming back and forth across the Sub-Ethanet. And personally, I don't want to see every hair growing out of my grandmother's moles in higher resolution.

Heh heh. And when you'll an old fart like me, you won't want all of your little facial imperfections, or even signs of fatigue, broadcast to the world. And by then iSight, or whatever, will be super-hi res!

Just numbers isn't everything  That Viao you linked to is heavier, significantly thicker, bigger in X and Y (but has the same resolution screen), doesn't have N wi-fi, has less thought-out design, has very loud trackpad button (something you don't want to have when you're using your laptop in a quite room/hall with a lot of people) and doesn't run Mac OS X.

... and doesn't run Mac OS X.

Well, I agree to that, that's what apple is banking on, and that's the permanent deal breaker for me too. It's how bad windows are and people being sick and tired of them being pushed down their throat that they switch. That said, as my original argument has been, apple should be more prompt.

BTW, current macbook screen is god awful, it's like you 've put it in the washing machine for a couple of days.

Overheard in a Sony shop:
~"I don't like this laptop, but I can't quite work out why" in reference to the top of the line laptop on sale recently. Pity it was from one of the Sony reps...

There are tradeoffs, and Apple isn't going to be serving every niche market. It's enjoying the benefits of the mid to high end laptop market a lot, and making a lot of people happy.

And for sweet jesus update them isights to 1.3...what are we in the stone ages?

What are you going to do with those extra million pixels?

To put it into perspective, the MacBook's display is 1280 x 800 pixels, which is 1,024,000 pixels; 1MP. You are asking for a sensor in the iSight camera which couldn't physically be utilised on a MacBook.

The megapixel myth is getting worse as time goes on...

Again, OP you are apparently a Windows user who has been brought over to this side, and now want Macs to be like Windows laptops.

Its not going to happen, if you want a cheap computer buy a PC. You can't have OS X and a cheap laptop, its one or the other. You are not being forced to use OS X, if you want something better than Vista then pay the premium.

If they at least tell us when it's coming out, even if it's 31st October. Because right now there is nothing that tells us there are going to be released new macbooks!

A Halloween release? That would be just too mind-blowing.

Try to live your life normally and get a few projects done, like cleaning out your old hard drive before copying your files to your beautiful new computer. Such diversions help out with the waiting--your fretting certainly won't hurry things...

Rumors point to a September/October release.

Same reason why many porn stars don't like HD movies. We know all our imperfections will be all clear!

Oh I digress. Yes 'we' is a joke.
