how does that change the fact James Cameron borrowed Disney's Pocahontas movie for Avatar?

In regards to "facts", here's one -- Disney didn't "invent" the Pocahontas story.

The first mention of the Pocahontas story (a.k.a. the Pocahontas myth) was in The True Relation, a book written by John Smith, first published in London in 1608, concerning events that took place in America in 1607.

How could Cameron "borrow" something from Disney that Disney never "owned"?
