I bought a bumper, but it doesn’t help with grip. I guess that’s not what it’s intended for. I’m using phone naked since Friday. Think I’m going to keep it that way.
I do have a screen protector, that way I can always put it face down, and not scratch back camera.
Someone should create a naked phone society thread although in hind sight (no pun intended lol ) that may lead to a lot of double entendre posts. I like the feel of the naked Air. It feels better in hand than my naked 16e.

For me the AIR is perfect 🤩 slips into my jacket or pants and I forget it’s there :) The photos are great (pretty much just take photos of my dog) and battery life is about what my 16 Pro was. I did return the AIR battery pack, for me it’s not needed. Best part is I don’t worry about bending it.
You using a case?

I love my Air, but something about the simplicity of my 16e is just really appealing. No plateau, just clean.

Has my Air nearly 2 days now, fallen in love with this device.

Using it case less & I love how easy it is to handle despite having a 6.5” display, one handed use is easy due to its weight and thinness. No pains or fatigue whilst holding it for long periods.

Still can’t believe how slim it is, like using just a screen. Incredible and sleek & love the space black.

Whilst the camera system is lacking some features it’s capable of capturing some excellent shots. The next gen portraits and the ability to take portraits of any object is a big win for me.

Obviously performance is top notch with the A19 Pro paired with 12GB RAM.

Battery life is more than enough to get through the day. Will be monitoring this as things settle down in the coming days and will post some results.

Had one person ask what phone it was whilst using Apple Pay.

It has convinced my other half to upgrade to the Air from their 3 year old 14 Plus.

The test I’m the most curious about is battery life in the Air two years from now. I’m going to guess it won’t be that bad for non power users like me but only time will tell.
I would say the Air in 2/3 years will need a battery replacement.

I had my 13PM for 4 years (the last one with a visibly degraded battery), but I’m pretty sure that I’ll send the Air to Apple in a couple of years in exchange for Air2/3 or whatever.

What I am very clear about is that I will never use a brick again.

How would you compare it to the 16e you had before?

I sold my 17.

It’s a good phone but if you ignore the selfie camera and always on display it’s almost the same as the 15 and 16 I had before. No doubt the Pro being same size feels same. I always loved the iPod touch size and the fold will be this thin. And that’s why I like the Air. Perhaps thin phones are the future but I do feel it’s over due a redesign.

The Air feels in a totally different league. The look and feel of it impress me every time I pick it up.

The screen is bigger and better in every way, brighter and with promotion, it’s more comfortable to hold being thinner with the rounded frame.

Better camera system even though it’s got a single lens like the 16e. Having next gen portraits and it isn’t limited to just people.

Love it 🤩

Is everyone using their Air’s naked? Who’s using a case & screen protector? 😀

I’ve got a sceeen protector on mine but no case. I feel like the screen protector has ruined the anti reflective coating and thinking about taking it off and going fully naked with it 😂

Returning my black for the sky blue has only reinforced my decision to leave it naked - love it. I would like to eventually try a matte privacy protector, but more for the privacy function than actual protection.

So after all that I compared these on my desk for a day or so:

White Air
Silver Pro
Orange Pro
Blue Pro Max

and decided to go for the silver pro.

Air is a lovely phone, but after watching reviews (after a few days use), holding it and using it briefly, and really thinking about it, I think after the novelty wears off the trade offs will start to irritate me. I've had so many phones over the years that are so cutting edge you get caght out.

Orange - I just didn't think it suited me.
Blue - my favourite colour by just a slight margin over the silver.
Silver - I ended up going for this in the end because of Scratchgate. The sharp edges on the camera bump on the pro's scratch very easily.

I chose pro vs pro max because I don't need the bigger screen any more - the reason I got it isn't there any more. Also I find the pro max being bigger and heavier each year, it's not just too big.

Anyway, enjoy your phone's guys! i'm out (of this thread) until next year.

Post some pics when you get the Sky Blue, it does look nice! Space Black all the way for me ❤️😀

Just removed the screen protector and there is much less glare now and it’s back to how thin it’s meant to be!

I’d got used the screen protector being on over the last few days. Can’t believe how detrimental it was until I removed it just now!

Both screen protector and case (Apple “clear but actually frosted” case). I’d love to go without the case but our entire apartment is hard floors (mix of tile and wood) and I don’t trust myself or my one year old daughter and her sticky fingers!

I understand that lol especially with your one year old daughter! She may not be so careful if she got hold of it 😂 I’d argue the Air will take anything you threw at it after seeing the impressive durability tests.

Dropped in here just to say: do NOT take what Apple has claimed on the better anti-scratch as true, regarding the screen of the Air. Two days of in pocket, and sometimes on a desk - I have many scuffs

If you'd like to keep the screen pristine, a screen protector will help save you frustration!

That is all.. the iPhone Air is amazing, love it with no regrets at all =) I'm actually more impressed the more I use it

It’s dangerous territory for sure!! I’d be devastated just getting a minor scratch so I don’t think I’ll be putting the durability to the test 😬

I've been using mine for 3 days and FINALLY Apple has figured out how to do a decent display, I've never been thrilled with it in the past, even on the Pros. I have nothing negative to say about this phone. The battery is fine, with or without the battery pack and I've been using the speaker without any issues. In fact it's so adequate I don't see what all the fuss was about on that, unless it's landscape users which I hate on any device, I always use portrait. I haven't really used the camera so I can't comment on that.

I have also been using it caseless and so far without a screen protector to test it out, but eventually I will probably install one.

Glad you’re liking the Air! 😁

What was in your pocket with it to scratch it? The extra scratch resistance has been proven in quite a few tests now to back up Apples claims.

If I start noticing any scratches or scuffs on the display then I may consider putting the screen protector back on. I’m very careful, it’s in its own pocket with nothing else, no dirt, keys, coins etc and never face down in any situation. I’ll see how how get on… 🤞🏻😊

The protector had much more glare and reflections, made it marginally thicker and far more fingerprints than the bare iPhone screen.

It’s brilliant isn’t it… Love love love it! 🤩🤣

The speaker is actually really loud and very clear, none issue and it performs very well. Can still enjoy content. I feel no need to buy the MagSafe battery pack.

Well that was all I needed to hear, I just placed an order for a screen protector. However, I watched JerryRig and it did well on the scratch test. But just in case I wouldn't put the phone in a pocket with keys nor would I throw it in a bag.

You won't need it unless you are out hiking or some place where there's no electricity.
