I really wish that we could get a straight answer about this. I've heard two different stories. I think that more people would be willing to wait for the X if they knew that they wouldn't have to be out more payments over the 12th one.

This is the official answer. Just depends if Apple makes any considerations.

Eligible iPhone Availability. Upgrading to a new eligible iPhone is subject to its release and availability at the time you exercise your Upgrade Option

Yes, I understand that. However, it's confusing since people don't know if they are going to be out the extra payments or if Apple is going to give back credit. That's what I meant by that. :)

Ya. Release date making mess. Also what about next year if release on normal cycle. Would have to make payments to be eligible because before November or when able to get ipx. :(

Yeah, it really does mess with everything. Potentially, if Apple doesn't give credit, you could be out a few months waiting for the X and a couple months next year if you want to keep the September launch schedule. It's really annoying. It is partly the reason why I'm going for the 8+ this year and waiting for the next release of the X (whatever they decide to call it).

You have to make the 12 payments no matter what to upgrade. So as long as you have paid 12 months worth you are okay. Why would they give you extra back?

We are talking about making a 13th payment. My 13th payment comes out Saturday. So my 13th payment come out 6 days before I upgrade.

Last year, Apple said that if you upgrade within 30 days of the payment, you receive a credit for the payment.

Yeah, and the 30 days if definitely going to be a problem if you're waiting for the X.

Well not really. Because you are still getting the use of the phone for the next 2 months. Me on the other hand would be paying an entire month for 5 days.

You're upgrade cycle is just moved back to November. But you aren't "out" anything.

Yup. That is the point. Adds cost to the ipx.
I'm doing Apple upgrade program for the X so next year if the phone comes out at normal release I'll just have to make an extra payment to make it 12 payments. Right?

Depends when actually get the X. What if December or January. If get on launch could be 1 or 2.
