Have you opened up the News app recently? It is included in the Apple One membership, however you are still exposed to ads, mostly generated with AI these days. Although no one's talking about it, for a paid service, I wouldn't expect any ads at all.

At least the ads in Maps look like a bit more decent and fitting like the App Store. It could be sometimes helpful to people who are indecisive. But News.. Am I the only human who hates News ads?

No, I hate ads in News too. I heard there's ways around them though (something with adblocking and DNS?). The problem with ads in Maps is companies that have a lot of money will be purchasing more ad space than small businesses, therefore "poaching" more traffic. It could put some out of business or hurt them financially. At least that's my concern. I live in a small, rural area with several currently thriving small coffee shops and such, so having Starbucks and such come in and throw wads of cash at Apple for ad placement means we could lose them.

Starbucks thing probably would never happen here in Melbourne. People hate that franchise. 🙂
