I think some people ignore the obvious. You can tell people who buy the large-capacity iPhones that they don't need all that storage, but they're going to want it anyway. Why? They simply want what they perceive to be the "best" or "top of the line." Everyone knows this is true with other products, especially products in the luxury category. Few people may need 512 GB of storage on their phone, but the lure of simply owning it is quite powerful.
I think some with the money to burn would rather have the storage and not use it that not have it and need it, especially since Apple doesn't have external storage slots.

I never fill mine up! I’m at 256.. I wouldn’t mind having a larger iPad though. 256 as well. With ton of storage, but I would download my purchased movies on it

I just don't want to think about storage and I like to offline a bunch of music and sometimes shows or podcasts if I'm gonna get on a plane.

I have the same issue because I use iCloud for my photos. I have a 256 phone but I can’t fathom filling it all:).
Same here Using cloud for photos and mostly I watch movies online no downloading at all.

I have the 256GB iPhone XS max. I have 125GB of available storage. I also subscribe to the 2TB icloud storage plan and make heavy use of that. I would have gotten he 512GB max if it were in stock at the time I got my max and I will get the 512GB version of the next iPhone I buy.

I have a 64 GB and while I have an iCloud of 50GB I still have over 30GB free. I usually just install apps or sync music nothing huge. No videos downloaded or that. Even my air I have 30+GB free. Anything I want to keep outside of iCloud I put on my HDD on my pc.

My work iPhone is 512GB. I have my work files/photos/apps on it. I travel a lot (flying) and have my music and some films on it. Sometimes it’s full, now I have 60GB free. If there was a 1TB, would I buy it? Maybe if the price was the same as the current 512GB.

My partner got the 512GB iPad Pro, I think she has used 30 or 40GB! Still she works hard, she wanted it and it’s her money.

I'm using 315 GB of the 512 GB. I keep all of my photos, videos, music, and podcasts on my phone. I record video in 4K. To my ear, music and podcasts sound better than when streamed. I don't like the lag that I experience when searching through my photos in the cloud over a cellular or wifi connection. I suppose that I could make 256 GB work, but I don't want to have to concern myself with managing space.

Have used just over 300GB. Mostly downloaded movies, then pictures, music, world maps, apps. Use phone even without good reception, save on data downloads, speeds things up. Zero issues taking pictures and 4K video. Second phone with 512GB storage memory. Would never go for less again.

Ain’t got a clue.

I got a 64GB and use about half of it, I just interchange movies, tb shows and podcasts when I’m done with them.

Nothing much yet since I have it now for only 3 days. But given that:
- My iPhone X uses 240 gb out of 256 gb
- My iPad Pro uses 460 gb out of 512 gb.

I am sure that I will make use of that 512 gb storage on the iPhone 11 Pro Max over the long run. Especially since I am going to use the iPhone 11 Pro Max more as an “iPad Mini”.

I don’t take loads of video but im
Sure that will change going forward.

It’s amazing what these 4K films take up and I’ve become obsessed with getting films on my devices

I’ve noticed I’ve been taking more videos now that you can hold down the capture button and start taking videos without having to switch to video mode.

Yeah it’s a nice feature and the quality is so good it’s made me want to use it more

On my X 256gb I used about 60gb.
Two weeks ago I went back to my older 6 128gb and I'm occupying around 32gb as of now, after having uploaded all the pictures I took in the last 12 months to it from Photos on the mac. 12.5 of the 32 is "Other".
In a drawer in my bedroom I have a sealed 11 pro 512gb. I'm actually finding it pretty hard to justify the expense and the storage, so I'm tempted to just bring it back and maybe get an 8 or an X 256gb.

EDIT: I stream music and definitely don't want to watch movies or series on that small screen. I have no clue how someone would ever need 512gb of storage, apart from people actually shooting hours of 4k60 footage every single day.

Currently using this much space (shot a fair amount of 4K video in Colorado)

Some like to keep films stored on their phones just in case I guess. I have them all stored in case I may need them and also saves needing to download them just g thy or certain moments it’s there when you need them

Lots of anime, photos take a lot, podcasts.. anything i want basically its really neat to have all that space.

Amazing how much films do take up...gone from 184GB left to 107GB on my pro max. think 512GB will be ideal on my next phone I imagine. Granted won't watch the films often on my phone for still if there's a need it's there for when I use it.

I own a 256 Gb iPhone 11 Pro, and I used about 58 Gb. With a little care I could live with a 64 Gb model...
For me 128 Gb would be the sweet spot. Unfortunately Apple leaves that for 11/XR users only.

Backup can also include , backing up the icloud . In other words keep important stuff on your phone as well as the cloud.

Keeping a backup of your Win desktop on iCloud inside your iPhone backup... Hmmm, sounds like a plan for "Pimp my backup" show :D:D
