lol it has got so bad for me I had to put something on the desk in it's place the space drove me mad, I put my old macbook pro on it and have been pretending its my Imac "Don't kid yourself my partner keeps telling me'. I even ordered an Iphone unlocked £599.99 to keep me occupied for a few more weeks. I am happy that I am not the only one going through it. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas at the moment.

We knew about that since the beginning of April. So that is not new to us. But thanks for bringing it up. I think things will start to take a turn next week. Lets hope anyway.

No such luck my friend, They usually don't work on weekends. But they will deliver on Saturday if you chose Saturday Delivery not just overnight , however Apple does not offer that option to the consumer as it is very expensive to have Saturday Delivery.

Yes the trial version only does 32 bit. To enable 64 bit testing you have to buy it @ $20 I think is the current price. But it does not test the video part I read somewhere. We need someone to install parallels and do the test on a windows program that does test the Video part.

I doubt if the warehouse will work on Holidays. I don't think they prepare anything on weekends and holidays but I could be wrong. With all the back orders they may very well do that just to check up with the back log of orders.

Been looking this thread since mid of march to see first members posting benchmarks of the ATI card before i order my mac. But then about 2 days ago, i just said "What the hell, i want this imac anyway, there is no chance i could return to a pc"😀
So ordered yesterday in the afternoon my 24" 2.93Ghz ATI 4850. I was just so excited to place this order, this will be my first mac after 12 years using a pc.
I was just wondering if would receive it in 1 month or maybe 3 weeks if i was lucky. Because i'm very excited, i just checked today that my order was still there on apple store 🙂D) and what a bloody surprise it was when i saw that it has already been shipped to me ! It has been shipped only 10 hours after i placed my arder actually !!! Trully amazing i can not understand how it could be so fast ?! I have the UPS tracking number and i could check that it is on his way on their internet site. So i could check it was not some kind of joke from apple. It is saying i should receive it by tuesday 14th.
I'm living in France BTW.
So i really do think that, now that apple made some stocks of those ATI, everybody that will order now will never wait so much time as pioneers guys that ordere on D day.
I still am afraid it is a mistake from apple, sending me an imac with Nvidia card though.

Has anyone in the U.S. had theirs shipped early? I ordered mine March 17 and still says April 21st delivery April 23rd. I am in California...

I'm in CA too, and ordered on the same day you did 🙂
My order still says shipping April 21st, but with a delivery date of 4/25, which is a Saturday so I'm a bit concerned. I'll see what happens this week, and if my date doesn't get bumped up, I'll call and see if I can change to overnight or 2-day shipping.

That would be amazing if it actually happens. It could be that there are more 2.93 Ghz available than the 3.06 Ghz ones. Your warehouse near your house could have a bunch of these and therefore making it a no wait delivery process for you. I see that most of the ones that are waiting are the 3.06 Ghz and with HD4850 video. Either way consider yourself super lucky in this respect. Lets hope they don't send you a Nvidia Video model by mistake. Good Luck. Keep us posted.

Well, actually i think it has nothing to see with my nearest applestore in my town. When i look to the tracker on UPS site, it clearly states that it has been shipped from Shangai today.

i ordered exact same machine on march 5th and its arriving the same day as yours.. i dont really care though, i expected to get it this week all along anyway. and i mean, how much quicker can i get it at this point anyway if it hasnt shippd until this coming monday right?

I'm in the same boat except that I ordered March 3. Computer still hasnt shipped. Card still hasnt been charged. Not due to be delivered until April 21st. I want my computer already.
Oh c'mon, what does it matter? You still have to wait, and you already stated you had no problem with the "4-6 week" hold. Are you really that angry because you feel other's are cutting in line ??
You will get your iMac when Apple decides to give it to you. And then you can decided if you will every buy another iMac again.

That is great information. Yes it is the mobility part, and it looks as though it's clocked at default speeds which is a good thing (some expected that it would be underclocked from Apple).
Any chance you can collect some other information such as running some of the same performance tests that Barefeats did in his thread comparing the different 2008 and 2009 iMac models?

Uhh, yes, to put it simply. I'm ok with the wait if I know everyone has to do it. Would you tolerate waiting in line at the grocery checkout with a sign next to you saying 1hr wait from this point and when you finally reach the front, you watch people waltz up and cut you, while the cashier (apple) looks at you and says, "See, everyone is being treated equally and in the order you got in line."
Obviously nothing good is coming from this thread so just let it die.
