How hard is it to keep the anti-glare clean? Special cloth and cleaner? More likely to scratch?

I have a 2nd grader who uses my computer occasionally and seems to gunk it up somehow. I think the particles of sticky just shoot off of him. It's easy to clean off the glossy iMac screen. But, wouldn't want to get anti-glare laptop if it's more prone to scratching than the gloss.

I have always had Matte screens. I was very attracted by the glass glossy screen with the nice black bezel so i ordered the Hi- Res Glossy.

Then I went in to a Co-Workers office and realized that the glossy screen is a nightmare if you are anywhere near bright lights.

So I canceled my order and re-ordered with the Anti-Glare. It's a shame, the hi res glossy is very nice as long as you are always in a controlled environment.

Standard res glossy. Sitting here on my couch, where I'll use this 95% of the time, I cannot see any reflection whatsoever.

As a professional fashion photographer, I can tell you that the viewing experience of photos on the antiglare is more similar to what a print would look it. It also is more true to the color of the print - the glossy screen is more attractive to most people it's slightly more saturated and hence gives the screen a better look - but once you go with the matted antiglare it's hard to go back. If you can compare my image below on both screens at Apple, you'll know why:

...the black border makes the laptop look that much more sexy

Agreed! Thats the same reason why I chose high-res glossy. I cannot stand that silver around the screen either, it would distract me as much as a glare. Plus I am used to working on glossy screen iMacs.

I do graphic/web design with daily prepress work and the colors in screen have never bothered me. Usually doesnt matter how good the screen is calibrated the print will almost always look different, specially if you dont know how to build your CMYK values. Plus chances are whoever you print with has a POS printer that wont be calibrated the same way ::shrugs ::

I actually like and prefer the silver bezel. Maybe it's just because I'm bored of the same old black bezel glass. After I got my MBAir I got used to it and liked the aluminum look and feel of it :)

glossy, the anti-glare's silver screen looks ugly, if it had black bezel id get it.

I felt the same way but still decided to go with antiglare because of experiences I've had trying to use friends' glossy screened macbooks outside, even at full brightness.

The silver bezel does bother me a bit, but I'm gonna see if I can cut a piece of black vinyl to fit over the border to fix that problem. I'll make a thread and post pics when I finish if it turns out nicely.

In a well "controlled" lighting configuration the glossy display is MUCH better. JMO ~~~~~ :D

Is it true that the matte screen also makes the MBP lighter? From what I recall reading here the glossy screen has an extra layer of glass that the matte doesn't.
