My iPad 2 on the left and my new iPad on the right. As you can see, my new iPad has the yellow tint.

I'm not saying you don't have a problem, because it looks like you do. But you took that photo at an angle. The color on the new iPad shifts when at an angle. I have both the new iPad and iPad2 side by side right now. Straight on the color looks similar. At an angle, the new iPad looks yellower, but not nearly as bad as in your photo.

Indeed the photos above will be deceiving because the screen becomes more yellow/green when you look at it from an angle.

I have noticed though that the colour temperature is more yellow than my iPad 1. However, I never pick up the new iPad and think, its wrong. It was only when I compared the two I realised. However, my phone is more yellow than the iPad.

I don't really understand why the backlights seem to vary so much between units. This is not related to Apple. This is discussed with SO many phones and tablets...the consistency simply isn't there. I saw 3 HTC EVO 3D phones, and was one clearly pinky, while another was very greenish.

I would say my iPad 3 is towards yellow, but not enough to ruin it for me.

It never fails with each release of a new Apple device theses threads pop up. My screen is too yellow, my screen is to blue, my screen is just right.

Then just like they pop up, they will fade away.

Just for the record my screen is just right! LOL

I have a week 2 and the screen is gorgeous no yellow hue at all.
I have a week 9 unit that looks as if diluted coffee was poured over the top third or so.

Earlier today I spoke with some very nice people at Apple and their recommendation was to replace it. They said I could take it to my 'local' Apple store and they would set up the appointment for me but they didn't recommend that as my 'local' store is 75 miles away. They recommended I use normal replacement wherein they send me a box, I return my defective unit, they ship me out a new unit. Total turn around time 2-6 days. They also offered Express Replacement wherein they put a hold for the full amount on my CC and ship me a replacement overnight. I chose Express Replacement and just now received email with the serial number of the unit on its way to me. The site referenced in an earlier post has an internal error right now so I can't determine manufacture week.

I asked about this problem, wherein the top (portrait mode camera at top) third or so of the display was much darker than the rest. They said they had received a 'few' reports similar to mine but it was still pretty sporadic and not close to reaching a level where they would flag it as a major concern.

I also asked about the possibility of it being a glue problem that would eventually go away. They said that while they weren't aware of any glueing issues with the new iPad they couldn't rule it out thus the recommendation to replace it.

I would suggest that if anyone has a similar problem they report it to Apple. That way Apple would have at least an idea of the level of the problem.

Week 1 and seems VERY yellow compared to my iPad 2..

I'm not sure what's meant by "yellow". My iPhone 4 has a cooler screen for sure when both are at 100% but viewed alone the colors look accurate to me. I've had HDTV's calibrated and perceived a warmer tone to everything so it may be that the new screens are more accurate. Beyond that, no dead pixels and no backlight bleed.

I had a bunch of issues with the new iPad. My 1st one was from week 7 and looked completely yellow so I returned it. Didn't look up the second one, since it had a lot of backlight bleeding so I returned it immediately. My current (3rd) iPad 3 has a beautiful untinted screen and it is from week 9.
