Ugh, that would be so dumb. Developing for three different screen sizes is one thing...but having your app literally feel different on one device is going to suck as a developer.
Yeah, this really makes no sense. But ... Apple doesn't make any sense lately ... so in that context ... it makes perfect sense that it makes no sense!

What can Force Touch do that a long press cannot? Couldn't this be achieved through software? We already use one press for some things eg. Contextual menus or to brung up the spyglass on text.

Force Touch is a way to hide contextual menus even more than usual.

In other words, it's even more useless for general circumstances than long presses, which themselves are not the best idea on a device meant for the masses.

However, it's okay for power users, as long as Apple only makes it a shortcut to other, more obvious, ways that do NOT require the poor user to guess at its existence and amount of pressure to use.

It makes perfect sense that the 6+ would have more features. It has much more room to add those features, why should apple have to make the 6s and 6s+ the same? As many many people here often say... "no one is forcing you to buy anything"... The 2 devices currently have a few differences which should indicate that Apple has no issue with putting certain technology in the larger device that either doesn't fit in the smaller or simply making the 6+ the actual flagship device which seems to be the case.

WTF are you talking about? This has nothing to do with screen space. The Apple Watch has Force Touch. This is just Apple shafting its users again (if this is indeed true).

Welcome to the world of fragmentation. I guess apple really is trying to emulate android these days.

How would this be different from one phone getting OIS while the others don't? Or how only the newest iPad gets side-by-side apps? Seriously, though, it's not new and it's not the same thing as when people talk about fragmentation in the Android camp.

That only thing 6+ has much more room to add is a bigger battery. Everything else that 6+ has can be implemented in 6. If Apple Watch can have Force Touch, so can 6S. As far as OIS goes, I think the only reason 6 didn't get it is because of the device thickness. Adding OIS would make the camera protrude even more. Now that the rumors are saying that 6S might see a slight increase in thickness, we might get OIS in 6S.

HowHow exactly would you be getting shafted? Just buy the phone that has the features you want.

Why are you assuming he is talking about screen space? The 6 plus has more volume available. The Watch as a benchmark for the "size" that can fit the required technology is not a good pick because the bottom line on the Watch is that it is thicker than both the 6 and 6 plus.

iPhone 6 volume: ~3.88 cubic inches
iPhone 6 Plus volume: ~5.33 cubic inches

Depths: 6 is 0.27, 6 Plus is 0.28, Watch is 0.41

Are you sure it's 6s Plus and not 6 Plus s?

Yes. Why on Earth would you think they would leave the door open or the mistake of 6 Pluss that would occur?

You've already showed that the 6 plus has more volume that has allowed it to add OIS and yet you completely discount that as no evidence that it could have a future feature that would not fit in the 6. Interesting.

What future feature? We are only talking about possible Force Touch. And that can be fitted in a 6S.

Why do you assume he's talking about screen depth? Lol.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Please point out the area where there is extra space.

I didn't assume. I simply pointed out that the size of the screen has nothing to do with the space that is available inside of the device.

Did you read the rumor about 6S going to be slightly thicker to accommodate Force Touch? Going by that rumor, I do hope it becomes thicker and gets Force Touch. I am just saying that I hope Apple does not even try and not implement this in 6S.
